went for a morning bicycle ride around the lake and saw a friend out in his catamaran.  i rode back home, got the checkbook, and rode to the lake office to buy a sticker for our boat.  i haven't had her out in 3 years, but after 3 hours of cleaning and inspecting everything, she's all good to go 'cept a cooler of cold beverages.  i love sailing at night, so i'm just waiting for that big ball 'o fire to go to bed.

I can't count how many times I've raged about them needing to be lined up and shot for making such a krap product that has to be told numerous times to do it's one and only job that it was made to do, usually with the radio/bluetooth/map/menus but sometimes with windows buttons and sunroof buttons that refuse to do their job as well. The worst is the transmission ecu that red lines the engine instead of switching gears like I tell it to, sometimes repeatedly where the ecu thinks it's a better choice to just continue ignoring my commands while remaining in that gear trying to blow up the engine, even before the engine is warmed up it pulls that mess. Oh if I could slap the idiots responsible for that they wouldn't be able to feel their face for a week. Since a aftermarket tune solves that issue($400+) then the manufacturer could and should have done that to begin with.

Today I mowed and cut some tree limbs then hauled them out of the yard. I drained the smelly old diff fluid then put in new fluid via hand pump that was a pita to get primed under the car. I changed the oil n filter, cabin filter, removed the brake pads on one wheel that's squealing then cleaned them and their hardware, greased the back plates, and reinstalled them in the cleaned caliper. No more squealing. Sending off a oil sample for analysis to see how the replacement engine is doing.

Yesterday Sonja got home from work hoping to relax.  As soon as I got off work, I grabbed her and dragged her out back and... Wait, not what you're thinking!

I handed her The Mutt (a big old pokey pry bar) and I grabbed my "mule", a beat-up poly-handled axe that is good for breaking stuff...  We then set out a pallet, loaded the chain-link fence rolls on it, and then proceeded to bust up the decades-old concrete encasing the fence poles.  We then loaded up her new garden cart (1200 pound capacity dontcha know!), dragged the cart up the road and dumped all the busted concrete at the top of the driveway.  She exclaimed at some point "You know how to show a gal a good time" but this lady also loves hauling rock, running the Sawzall, digging in the dirt, and shooting airguns.  You see, this is her idea of relaxing!

In anticipation of a 3 week shutdown from work beginning this Saturday... we went blender shopping.
Of course we have a blender... in the house. This one is for the RV.
Ok, let's back this up a bit.... One might ask, "What is so important about a dedicated blender for the RV?"
Well, it goes something like this:
2 parts ice
1 part bottled water
1 part Southern Alabama 'creek water'
add your favorite flavor G2 mix to taste
Blend until it gets to a brain freeze consistency.
Be very careful standing up.

Ya feel me?

... and of course, I had to take it for a trial flight last evening.... "Houston, we have no problem"

Drained the old power steering fluid in my car from down near the loop cooler which turned out to be a royal pita because another hand pump I used did not work at all and the fluid that was properly level then overfilled resting in the funnel after I turned the wheel several times to circulate the new fluid. I got a turkey baster, cut off the pump's line since it wouldn't pull off then hooked it up to the baster to reach down deep in the funnel which worked. Now I have old ps fluid, diff fluid and oil to drop off. Mowed the yard and got dust all over me, in my eyes, mouth ect.

  I got a haircut today. I did some other stuff but they were just mundane things. This was the first time I went to the Barber Shop since the Covid-19 shut down which switches it from the humdrum category to nearly exciting.
  The Barber Shop I was most recently pre-Covid frequenting was by appointment only now (post-Covid), so I went back to my old/alternate choice and it was still walk in and business as usual, except their business was slower so the wait was shorter. The other Barber Shop charges more so, I left a bigger tip and still got out for less $.     

My hair sure looks thinner when short. I like it short though, so much easier to get it to look/stay combed.

Today I relocated my grandfather's homemade flag pole to a better spot in my front yard

He built this flag pole to fly the colors of freedom he fought to protect during the war and he died while installing it in his front yard.

My truck decided it didn't want to make it all the way home after work.
 Had to call the son-in-law to pick me up, go to the house, get a tow strap then pull me home.
 Then off to the Autoparts store.
Changed the waterpump, serpentine belt and 2 gallons of coolant in the driveway in the pouring rain... got it done by 9:00
came in , showed and ate in bed by 10:00.

I can relate Scott,  I'm sorry.  But it is good to know we still have it. The knowledge,  the tools, and the health to be able to do it.  Too bad, you know without pictures it didn't happen.  LOL

Don't you know it. Rain dripping in your eyes, you're trying to get the wrench on a hidden bolt in the dark. Flashlight guides your way but your dang head gets in the way of the beam while you're trying to see where the bolts is/goes.  You nose itches from the rain drops.  You're cussing under your breath the designer who decided to put the waterpump in such a weird place. And serpentine belts, what evil person invented those.

Don't you love the cars of the '30s and '40s. You could climb over in the engine compartment,  shielded from the rain by the enormous hood.

Now you have to remove a cross member to change an air filter.

Actually, it was rather loudly. I didn't hold back on the "Colorful Language".

The best part was the water pump was in stock at the second place I called... AND it was the correct one!
