If you bought a Taipan Veteran .22.....

would you buy a short, standard or long?
And why?
I had a standard .25 and loved the length. But now I want a .22.
The long looks a bit long. Kind of like defeating the purpose of a bull pup.
The short looks cool and compact but I’m a stickler for shot count. If I get 50 shots. I’m good. But is 50 at 30fpe asking too much from a tiny compact?
Or should I shut up and get a standard length lol.
Thanks,
Jacob

Personally I preferred the long over every size and I had one of each. The Shorty's are nice if compact is of utmost importance. The Long is just super easy to shoot accurately and very very efficient. Can also crank the power way up if wanted.

Jacob, I was seriously looking at a Long as the shot count and power are higher than the Standard and not too much longer
. But it all depends on your intended use, wants, needs. As Dillon said above

Oh and by the way the long is spooky quiet without an LDC. When I got it I thought it was broke as it sounded sooooo quiet. Ran it over the chrony and was pushing 35fpe lol

That shorty shot string is pretty good at 45.
I have an FX crown .22 that covers my 50-130 yard needs. Sometimes the crown is a bit long to carry around.
The long seems like the best one. I need to look up some pics of them.
The taipan will probably get a 6x scope on it and be used from 10-50 yards. I’m just shooting starlings and doves for my dog.
Sometimes I got to my in laws and bring my gun. The shorty would be nice and discreet.
Dillon, out of the 3 options, which item me did you prefer for off hand shooting?
I know sometimes light can be too light.

Dude the standard will be plenty good, at least that is what I would get. You should have no trouble getting 50 shots with it and it'll be backyard friendly without an additional ldc (at least my .22 mutant standard was).

Jacob I have never shot a compact, but I have shot the Standard and the Long. The standard would be fine out to 50. And it sure is sweet in the hand. Anything farther consider getting the Long, the standard coming in second
most of the time
. (Said the Long shooter who recently LOST a 100-yard match to a heck of a marksman shooting a Mutant Standard.) There are better guns out there for those shooting offhand like when hunting. I do mostly bench rest on bags. Heck, that's all I do. The few times I've tried shooting the standard and the long offhand the sight picture through the scope reminded me of Stevie Wonder's weave. I could not hold them still on target. A traditional rifle might be a better choice if you are going to be shooting it offhand much. Dillon is right about how quiet the Long is. Makes you giggle it is so quiet. You are headed in the right direction getting the .22. I cannot shoot my .25's as accurate as I can shoot the .22 Long. At any distance. Whichever one you decide on, MAKE SURE YOU ARE GETTING A
UKRAINIAN
TAIPAN .22. They are the only ones that you know for sure that you are getting the highly-coveted CZ barrels.

Ray(Tonycarter), Motorhead, and Dillon talked me into a Taipan Veteran Long and it’s everything they said it would be. The .22 has the CZ barrel and it is crazy accurate as well as built like a tank. Outfitted with a good bipod and 8-32 scope, mine is a little heavy for hunting but from a bench it’s dynamite. Oh, it’s got a true match grade trigger but I suspect all 3 lengths can boast that.
