I am new to airgunning and rebuilding springers so excuse the simplicity or unfamiliarity in my questions if this is a redundant topic. I have a Beeman Falcon 1 and took it apart making my own spring compressor following BB Pelliteirs vice design. Now I want to replace the leather piston seal and maybe the spring and whatever else within reason to get this small easy cocking springer to shoot around 725fps. but accurately out to 25-30 yds for hunting starlings, house sparrows, maybe even pigeons, farm rats and Hunter Class Field Target if it can shoot out to 30-40yds+ accurately and with enough power. I know you probably can't turn a low end airgun into an Anschutz by changing the spring and piston seal, but I would like to upgrade this plinker (I'm guessing in only shoots around 550fps - weak not killing house sparrows at 13 yds) into a more versatile airgun. Here is the Beeman Falcon's piston - spring specs: Spring length: 8 5/8", 32 coils, width: .894 or 3/4", and .20" spring thickness. The piston seal is 1" leather by 1/4" thick. This rifle was made in Spain for Beeman. I believe Pyramid Air recommended using a Beeman GS 100/950 seal BNP -127 for about $10. They said a Mendoza spring (medium velocity) model ??RRM363??? $25, would be a possible replacement but is not available. They then said replacing the spring was generally unnecessary and that cleaning gunk out and re-lubing is all a tune-up generally requires for increased velocity. All said can anyone who really knows how to rebuild this little springer advise me on how to get it to where I want? Any knowledgeable guidance and reply is appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Chris,
It can help if you soak old leather seals in silicon oil. Also check for synthetic adapters from Vortek. Air Rifle Headquarters and Vortek probably have a new spring that would fit. Old springs do sometimes sack out with age. Also, don't neglect to check your breech seal.
Have fun!

I have a Crosman 3100, that was made in Spain for them by Cometa. It was given to me by a good friend and work associate years ago.
I opened it up and it has a leather seal. Cleaned and degreased it,and soaked it in silicone oil.
The spring was something else. It can't roll across a flat table top!
So I looked up Vortek, and after taking all the measurements (length, outside diameter, inside diameter, and wire diameter they made me a replacement.
This little rifle's specs when new were about 600 fps, and though I don't have a chrono, I am very pleased.

Thanks DanD and Matchstickshooter. I will check out what a Vortex Spring will do and plan to replace the piston leather to synthetic as well as replace the breach seal. Anyone know what speed this small chambered springer will reasonable reach without compromising accuracy. I see some youth airguns for sale like the Stoeger Arms X5 that states 800fps, or the Gamo little cat at 750fps. What combo of spring, seal, other parts would get me these speeds?
