Gamo Urban with 30gr BBTs

I finally got my hands on some pure lead, and had a chance to cast some this afternoon. Initial results look very promising. 60 yards again.

Great shooting . Bob really hit the nail on the head with this bullet . I’d really like to know why I just can’t get the .25 cal 52 grain to group like the .22 cal . Hope Al gets the RG style HP pins worked out .

I really, really wanted a hollow-point, but the more I shoot this little bullet the less I care. The flat point hits with authority even without it. I'm not sure I would get expansion at any distance from my 27 ft/lb rifle any. Here it is at 60 yards after leaving the muzzle between 640 and 650 fps.

That is just sweet... But I am out of the pure have about 10lbs of 1.5% tin guess should get some 99.9%pb... might just help my AT 44 do better...

Do have a target box just for catching softer pellets now... the crosmans not get shot into the cast target box... Boxes of clothes packed in and then covered with duct tape...

Do have a target box just for catching softer pellets now... the crosmans not get shot into the cast target box... Boxes of clothes packed in and then covered with duct tape...

I guess I need to buy or build a pellet trap. I've  been shooting my ar500 steel targets and repainting them after a few groups. I've yet to recover a pellet from them. They disintegrate when they hit that hard steel.

I should be too. It didn't concern me much when I was using the range scrap, but it cost me $27 to get 11 pounds of the soft stuff shipped to me.

Had some aspen and cottonwood rounds for target backers for a long time which I then burnt on an old piece of car hood to recover the lead... had rope loops attached to carry them with...

I bought it off ebay. The seller assured me it was pure lead. It's definitely really soft. I can put a big crease in it with my thumbnail.

in pic those were 1322 targets... for my daughter and I having a pistol contest a few years ago...finally got enough lead in all surfaces to recover about 20-30 lbs of lead forgot about it need to get out the rough smelting cast iron pot and build a hardwood  trench fire...get it fluxxed out... it will be near enough to pure lead... only about 1/4 is Crosman pellets the rest are soft lead... crosmans are 1% antimony...

I was really disappointed that the cowboy lead wasn't softer. I've got 75 pounds of ingots from it, but at least I can use it for my powder burners.

27 for 10 pounds isn't bad. That's a lot of 30 grainers. I figure I ended up with 800 of so from the 4 lbs I cast the other day.

I do love this hobby.. recycling helps pay off the mold.. ;)and a Chinese pump...

 But can not give up the pellet collection... and some times a 25  yard slow heavy wadcutter is what you want... the slower the safer some times... love all my 13xx carbine pumpers in the back yard...

My Daughter has drawn about 8 dozen of the Zombie Vampier Egg Hoard... we let them sit around for a good while.. some pop a touch wen ya get 'em...



today was angry with a big Bird... and had to Laugh about it... not to far from here is nesting grounds and summer range of the bird that ate most of my 8 of year old and 2 year old 10c 5-6" rocket gold fish... my ponds only about 18'x12'x3'... five lived...

anyways chased the jerk off muttering something about .25 BBT 40g...

So this is a 15" BSA barrel with 18" twist shooting at around 30 fpe that you guys are using? Show me some 1" groups at 100 yards and I'll order a mold and switch one of my BSAs to .22

Sorry I feel that should be saved for the 45-60 fpe rifles... could probably pull it off at 25-30 fpe but do not care to even try right now... if you can not see the use of a 25-30 fpe 40-60 yard Hunter...well that is on you.. I do think it can be done but you know what...

I want to prove what can be done stock and not to expensively... besides it is a lot less pumping than ~60 fpe..

that last 60 yard group by ED is better than many do with powder at 60 yards...

 When I asked Bob to design lights in .22 and .25 it was to make casting more accessible to folks with stock-ish fpe... and that is how stated my request then...not looking for bragging rights just a nice very effective near pbr 35-40 yard hunter...

so yeah if I get them working well in my AT44 long at 42 fpe may try... but honestly will be happy with near moa at 75 or so yards...

were do you come up with 18 twist..? only stuff I have found says 19 twist..? 

so yeah what you think is worthwhile is different than I... I think what we are doing is a worthwhile accomplishment... not to mention enjoyable... Sure beats the 14g 18fpe .22 pellets I used to hunt with in the 1980s...

If it is beneath you I do not care if you buy the mold or not... I bought it for me..

I have sent these with my MK1322 pumper at 550 fps work great for 30 ish yards and do lob well to 50 ish... have read of them working well out of a 392...and Wayne's low fpe pistol for indoor practice...

I'll be heading for the state land in about a half hour to shoot these fine hollowpoint slugs from my Airmax Dominator which is actually an SPAM16 or Diana Outlaw more or less, just one of the first to be sold is all.  Mine has a 1 in 20" twist and is unchoked from the factory.  I did open the barrel connector port on it plus I turned up the regulator and adjusted the hammer spring accordingly.  The tune that I have right now was done for the 217-24-RF (the ones I use are 23 grains in pure lead) at about 900fps and shooting slugs from this tune is about 800fps

I agree with Kirby. I'm shooting the 30 grain at 28 foot pounds, and I consider it good for 50-60 yards max. Those are my limitations, but I'm very comfortable with it in those boundaries.

I tried them in my 2250 hpa and they corkscrew horribly past 10 or 12 yards. It only pushes 14.3 grain pellets at 500 fps though. I've got it set up for high volume plinking. I'd have to change the hammer spring to get it to shoot them harder.
