Harry.... BTW... I have the next 5 days off work. You can bet this thread will get many updates with my thoughts and findings, including pellet testing, and open sights vs. red dot vs. scope. If I have to pump this thing for all of that I'm either going to have one Popeye arm or a tube of hamburger hanging from my shoulder.

Well, I'm here to tell ya.... not so much.
I was looking around for the donor scope and spotted a potential candidate on a Bear River pumper. I pulled it out and was pondering if the one piece mount would work on the Freedom. That's when I noticed....
THERE ARE MY DANG LEGS !!!
And I just ordered a pair not more than 5 minutes before.

I hope mine only has a damaged box but I got a sneaking suspicion that the damaged boxed ones were used for giving missing parts to customers

Yeah, If it's missing mag, fill probe and shot tray but never been sold due to box damage.. that would be a good thing.
If it's missing screws and bolts and such and laying in a pile.... not so much. I'll be honest... I really stressed buying the last .177 but so far it's worked out.

I kinda figured you would windup getting one of these.  What PCP guy could resist a deal this good ?

By the way......I slipped up and fell off of the air rifle sobriety wagon, myself.     I am in the process of buying another gun. Gracious.    The deal is not done yet but it is in the works.   No..it is not one of these Freedoms but it will be a heavy hitter.  I can't believe I did this.

Well, turned out the one piece mount won't work. Too long to sit behind or ahead of the loading port for the mag.
So after looking around some more I found what I think will be a good testing scope.
A BSA CT6-24x50TS. Should work good for 20 yds out to as far as this gun may stretch. It's a good clear scope. It's a big honker so it wants to be on a big gun. The rings give me just enough room to adjust the AO without rubbing the shroud. They also provide plenty of room for the mag.
Let's get it on !!

Ok, let me just put this out there before we even begin...

I'f you look closely at my make shift shooting bench for this testing, you'll see that it's something I should be walking on and not shooting from. Between that wobbly thing and my unsteadiness we add up to something similar to Catherine Hepburn.

I set back 20yds from target. No wind other than that due to last night's pizza.
I pumped the gun up to 3k (which, btw, is the beginning of the red on the gauge. The gun will take 3600psi.)
Popped in a mag of CPUM ( Crosman 10.5 Ultra Mag Domes)
Took 6 shots to get relatively on target.
For testing purposes.. I pumped the gun back to 3k.. about 12 to 15 strokes and refilled the mag.
A dime appears to cover the group with 3 in the same ragged hole.
I don't know about you but, for a gun that has not even been cleaned or tightened and barely lubed properly?
I'm happy as a hooker in a weenie factory.

Ever since I began contemplating whether I wanted the .177 or the .22 my hopes and dreams were that the .177 would really like the 10.5 Ultra Mag domes.
Being the first and only pellet tested, I'm not even sure I need to look any farther.... I think I found the money pit.
Oh but, more pellet testing I will do....

What are you setting this gun up for ?

I haven't decided if I want to go with a 750fps ish power general shooter using CPHP's or up the speed and use maybe JSB Jumbo Heavies as a squirrel gun ?.....decisions, decisions, decisions !!

That remains to be seen Mike... Accuracy does not equate to efficiency. This gun being what it is, with the onboard hand pumping system, I'll probably want to tune it for a balance of power, accuracy and shot count.
I have a sneaky feeling that Yellow Label 9.8 winnie domes are going to shine as well.

I'm gonna let the gun's performance dictate the tune. I don't have a desired goal other than the balance I mentioned above. I don't need to work my butt off trying to reach 25 for 25 or any other goal. I can shoot 10 and pump it back to 3k for low es. Easy peasy.
I'm not going to put 10 in a ragged hole at 50 yds with open sights anyhow. But if I can manage a meal at 25, a country boy can survive.

Gee Whiz .....The Dominoes are All falling down with this gun and the Band Wagon is filling up fast. 

It will be interesting to see what you guys take down with one of these rifles.

Who needs a Steroided Sheridan if you got one of these Rifles ?

Pumped it back up to 3k with 15 - 17 strokes.
Loaded a mag with Yellow Label 9.8 winnie domes.
I didn't even touch the scope.
5 in each group.
Those misses are most likely me. It's not likely flyers stack in the same hole.
