What happens if . . .
« on: March 15, 2019, 10:19:48 AM »
I have attached a picture to a post/reply and later delete the picture (send it to "Trash")?  Does the picture magically remain a part of the post/reply?

That depends on where you have the photo stored. If you load it from your computer/phone and delete it, no biggie, it is still here. On the other hand, if you have it hosted on tinypic.com, the GTA Media Gate or some other hosting site and delete it from there, it's gone and not visible in the thread.

Thanks for the reply Dave.
My concern was pictures that are/were on my home computer.
So no harm if I accidentally delete one of those pictures - go it.

To expand a little more....when you load a picture from your computer, it actually copies it. If it didn't, the picture would be eternally linked to your computer. And if you simply shut your computer off or it went offline, the photo would not be visible. On another note, by loading this way, if you accidentally delete it from your computer or it gets corrupted, you always have a copy here to grab.

Now that I think about what you just wrote, it is obvious that the attachment is not grabbed from my computer each time the picture is viewed.
Thanks for the eye opener.
