Did I overtighten my pivot screw?

Titan GP here. I just lubed the gun for the first time after about 750 shots. I tightened every screw up really snugly. The pivot screw, in particular, had a good 1/4 turn in it to get it really tight. Now the barrel is MUCH harder to break. It cocks fine, the same as it ever has, after the initial break.

Is this ok? There was no side to side barrel movement before I tightened it. Should I back it off a bit?

I think a firm hand on the screw is fine. You don't have to summon you gorilla arm to do the job.
The main thing is no side to side movement.

Totally feels like starting over. And breaking the barrel is REALLY hard. Harder than it ever was when the gun was new. My hand is sore from slapping it.

Oh, and accuracy seems to be slightly less reliable again, but that may be the barrel cleaning. Maybe slight fouling will help.

Don't tighten it to much it will start to bend the fork's in just enough to where the barrel doesn't flop down when breaking it open. Another thing is that once you start to tighten the barrel it may change the direction of the barrel slightly and will need to sight her in some. Ed

Shadow said it right.....just tight enough to keep the barrel from "flopping" .

I know my breech catch is not as tight as others I have shot. If i don't make sure to pay attention closing it, it might shoot 12 in low.

Well I did have to re-sight in. It's calming down again now and I am starting to get on the money again. The barrel is easy to cock once it gets past the original break point. But breaking and closing that last bit is TIGHT.

 It would be of great benifit to you and the ag to replace the washers in the pivot with brass ones, its on of them things that is now or later. Thanks David

with the brass bushings in place and some moly on them, the barrel will stay tight for a long time. I made my own for the stoeger x20, now the barrel stays where I leave it and no side to side play.  The plastic one eventually collapse and require constant re-tightening even then the barrel will still drop.Rob
