CMP Daisy 853 Run
« on: January 31, 2019, 11:52:28 AM »
We shoot Air Rifles in our Clubhouse during the winter, informal match.  Mostly Springer or Nitro Pistions.  Few weeks back I bought a CMP 853, well the short of it is that so far 6 people have ordered the Daisy from CMP  ;D

Everyone was very impressed with Daisy and the accuracy of the rifle.

It'll be a dang shame when the CMP finally runs out of their old 853s.

Welcome to the club.
The CMP 853 is probably one of the best deals out there.

No question about it, I have two.  An 853 sporter and an 853 Monte Carlo that I've put 753 sights on.  Love 'em!

The count is now 9.  Only issue is an older gentleman tried to mount a scope.  Even with droop compensating mounts we still ran out of evelation adjustments.  The droop is impressive.

Maybe he should try on one of the other members guns. I mounted a scope on mine and had bo issues.

Has he tried to " shim " the scope ? I have a springer with one strip of electrical tape under one of the mounts to get to shoot high enough.

Yeah the rifles are a hoot to shoot! I’ve bought and rebuilt 3 from CMP. I almost want to order a couple more, because they’re so much fun to work on...

Whenever I need to put a smile on my face I take out the 853. The one hole accuracy is amazing!

I have an 853 and I have to constantly remind myself that I do NOT need another 853.

Oldgringo,

I also have an 853 Monte Carlo and recently got a sporter as well just for something a little different.  For the 753 sight, did you need to get a 753 front sight/barrel weight to match the height of the 753 rear sight, or did the stock 853 front sight work with it?

You have to replace the barrel weight also.
The 753 barrel weight has a dovetail on the top that the front sight clamps onto.

+1... Both front and rear need to be changed in order for it to work correctly.

Is there actually a benefit changing to the 753 site? Shoots REALLY well with the stock ones but if the picture is better or some other advantage I might want to try it.

Rear sight adjustment is better on the 753 sight.
