It's sprinkling here just a little, so nothing in depth.  Opened the box, cleaned the barrel, installed a scope, pumped her up to 3000, loaded a couple magazines and spent two magazines sighting in. It's more quiet than my Maximus with TKO. After fighting the trigger for three magazines, I pulled the Challenger unit from the Maximus and VOILA!! GREAT TRIGGER! At the least, lighter spring and two/three screw mod. Even better Challenger trigger. I gave a half-hearted attempt at a group, but darkness set in. It does show great promise. More info next week, velocity and hammer spring tuning.  This is a UTG 4-16X56 on medium rings.

That doesn't sound good. The trigger is one of the things they paid special attention to in the Gen 2, wasn't it?

It is still the disco/Maximus/2260 trigger group.     The Gen 1 Fortitude's very heavy hammer spring made it worse than the prior applications.  It should now be more equivalent to disco/max/2260's.   The Gen 1 Mrod/Challenger trigger assy is much better, and I had no issues putting one on the Gen 1 Fortitude.

As far as ATI Liberty's and Freedom's, pretty much an apples and oranges comparison.  Freedoms are in a class by themselves with the integrated pump.  The Fortitude is much lighter and less bulky, and you won't have to worry about future part support.

Ken , how's the bolt feel, is it smooth cocking?

Nothing to compare it to. But, it is as smooth as my Maximus. The longer travel took a little getting used to for me. When the sun breaks, I will do some chrony work, and see how the hammer spring adjustment effects things.

Bill, it is almost a direct swap. The trigger guard opening in the stock has to be extended forward. I had already done this for my Maximus, swapped trigger and stock.

Bill, it is almost a direct swap. The trigger guard opening in the stock has to be extended forward. I had already done this for my Maximus, swapped trigger and stock.

Maybe the wood disco stock would be drop in without stock mod?

It would also fit into one of Boyd's AT ONE stocks as well, he offers two styles of this stock. Traditional grip and thumbhole. They are bad to the bone. If the reviews on the gen 2 are good I will be getting one for my wife and adding the thumbhole stock. They are a little pricey at 200 but I think it would be an awesome upgrade to this little rifle.

Yes the Gen1 was a drop in fit for the disco wood stock and the gen2 should be as well.

Sounds like if the gun is great swap the trigger to the gen 1, add a disco stock and woohooo, good to go

My .22 Fortitude Gen 2 arrived yesterday. It is small looking and weighs two pounds less than my Marauder F&T .177, it handles easily.
The trigger needs some refinement or maybe my trigger finger needs to do some strengthening exercises.
I mounted a new Discovery scope and laser bore sighted it in the hallway at a distance of 17 yards and ran out of up adjustment. Went to the range and at 25 yards pellets were hitting an inch low so now I have to shim and start over.
I shot only 30 pellets (Crosman domes 14.3? grain) in windy conditions and groups looked tight but I was more concerned with the scope than groups so more later.

I thought I saw in some write-up, maybe on HAM, that the Gen 2 was going to be easier to adjust the regulator.  Is that true?  I assume that meant without pulling all the parts.  My guess would be a new gauge block to get access to the reg with a special tool.  If true, can you elaborate on this?

John - The hammer spring is now adjustable.  The regulator would require you to break down the pressure tube and have a fixture to test the reg pressure.  So no it is not really customer adjustable.  Sorry.

Barry - We achieved reduced cocking effort by changing the hammer spring and reducing the load on the sear. 

I have not tested it myself but as I understand it the Fortitude will drop into a Disco stock.
