I looked at the poll setup and I don't see anything that would do that. The end date is still in the future so that's not the problem.

This is my first poll, do they shut down after a while (like a week) automatically?

Or does another person set or change what shows and not me?

Could I/we get this looked into or an answer by the Administrator or Moderator?

I wonder how many people would have voted to move the Bullets and Casting section but couldn't because of this.... ? ? ? ? ?

A good detective examines all the possibilitys:

Question.  Is this a standard feature I just missed?

Question: Or did I not set it up correctly?

Question: So I'm asking again, is it possible for someone else to turn off a poll? Someone who did not like the subject or results?

Yes, which is why I suspect a glitch that a Moderator will have to fix.  If one would respond to the requests....................................

But I also, throwing caution to the wind here, have wondered if some of the senior members don't like their boat rocked and this was never going to be considered anyway.
If true, sad and their loss.

I love PCP rifles as works of human ingenuity and art and feel excitement to see them evolving into something better.  I enjoy being part of that evolution and enjoyed associating with the like minded people here.  I like contributing to something bigger than one individual and feel that something like GTA is an organism, if it is not growing it's dying.
I love shooting and being in touch with my roots as a hunter as human males have done for hundreds of thousands of years. Very fulfilling.
But I never got along with the "This is the way we've always done it so it can't be changed" "It's policy" crowd and generally just move on like the Paleo hunter/gatherer hidden in a modern skin I am. Just saying there is always something interesting over the horizon and I like to go looking and don't look back.

We have over 15,000 members. This topic and poll has 37 votes. So, we should take that as a majority and move a gate by these results? I'm sorry but I don't see it. I'm very receptive to change and will always rearrange to meet the needs and requests by a majority. But I will not juggle the 165 gates only to satisfy a handful of members. It does not make sense. That's me being irked. We listen, read and DO care.

Really Carl? It's been about 24 hrs. since the situation with the vote button for your poll has come up. I see no record of you reporting this. I realize this is your baby, but we(the staff) work very hard to find the time to address the multitude of issues that arise with the forum and regrettably we just can't jump on every little issue the second it arises.  Trust me in that if someone on the staff was intentionally messing with your poll, more than the vote button would disappear. Your situation has been referred to the proper personnel and I am sure it will be addressed as soon as they can get to it. In the meantime, if you still feel there is a better venue for your interests, I wish you well on your journey.

pv

PS- After some inquiry....The reason you don't have a submit button is likely because you have already voted. This to prevent unscrupulous voting. Evidently there has just not been that much interest in the poll.

Just to add a bit to what pv stated. When you set the poll up you had several options to select or not select. I'm really not sure which you picked. You had a choice of allowing multiple votes per person, only one vote per person, show results to everyone, show results to those that vote and to also allow folks to change their vote. I assure you no one on staff intentionally "messed" with yours or any other poll posted by members. That is just not ethical or acceptable.
But the results of any poll stand as is, no interference from anyone that I am aware of.

To sum this up,  We are simple asking for the casting section to be moved over to the Darkside so it can more easily be found by all that are looking for it.  I had a very hard time finding it myself until someone pointed me to it.  Yes I did search for it ("bullet casting"), but it was deep in the search results and I missed it.  I didn't think to look in the machine shop as that didn't click with me, and doesn't click with many other newcomers either.

I now know where it is, but that doesn't help others looking for it.  A lot of people are becoming more interested in casting, so having this gate hidden back in the machine shop is not the best we can do IMHO.

Moving is not a big deal Keith. I appreciate the input also. But with only 37 votes it appears to be a non-issue. But I will move the gate anyway. Personally, I don't think it relates to Big Bore only. Folks are pouring/swagging all calibers. But hey, I'm just one opinion.

Folks are pouring/swagging all calibers.

That's the best argument to move it over to the Darkside so it is more visible.  I don't think it needs to be on the Big Bore gate either because of the variety of the cast being made, but I'll leave that up to your expertise.

I'm just one vote too, but I do think that would be a good move.  Thanks Dave!

I would HATE to see this gate moved to the Big Bore gate, as we probably have as many NEW casters making pellets than bullets.... IMO the very best solution would be to see an "Ammo Casting Gate" as a child board in PCP/Darkside…. Make it generic and put it where it will get the most traffic....

*LOL*…. I see that has already occurred....  8)

That's perfect Dave.  I never really wanted it in the Big Bore gate and never said I wanted it there.  I should have been more clear about the Darkside.  Where you put it is awesome, IMHO.  Thank you!
