Couldn't stand it any longer.  I just placed an order for 100 each of the 140gr and 120gr NSA slugs (.358) to try out in the 357 Slayer.  If they are anything like the 142s they'll do and excellent job at filling my needs.

I hope someone can post the BC numbers for each.

I think there might be some 142's in your box too when you get your order  ::) .  Be a couple of days before we make them, we are still running behind.

The BC around this, at least close:

142  0.135
140 0.130
120 0.125

I received my Nielsen Specialty Ammo order today in perfect, well packaged condition!!!  I must say, that was some fast shipping :)

I can't even explain my gratitude for Nick's generosity towards a first time customer.  Thank you Nick!  I really wasn't expecting this and feel very blessed.  I can't wait to see what these do out at 50 yards and beyond with the Slayer.

I have the NOE sizer system and had bushings for .355, .356 and .357 (and other caliburs) but did not have one in .358 which was mentioned as preferred by the Slayer...
So I ordered it and as soon as my next batch of lead arrives from Rotometals I plan to cast a big supply so I can try all the various slugs I have in all the different sizes and tweak the tune - if that even needs to be done (I keep hearing Tom sends it so well tunes it's great right out of the box.  Which would be a new experience I've never had before, haha). Man, anticipation is HARD!

Also, @triggertreat, I found my Pitbull liked the NSA heavier slugs with a trace of lube.
I used / tried Rooster Jacket diluted 50/50 with water and it dries to a wax coating which is good in the field as it's not messy.
Or as per reading here I tried 10wt synthetic shock oil (using the baggie with a couple drops and 50 bullets method).
Have you tried un-lubed vs lubed in your Slayer any?{or has weather been too much of a problem since you got it? I know it is currently.}

Carl, I haven't tried any lube to date.  I do have the recommended FP-10 for a TJ barrel I could try.  The NSA slugs appear to have some sort of slickness to them.  It feels like a wax or clear coating, but I don't really know what it is.

Good news!  I have discovered a 100 yard outdoor gun range.  They are only open a few days a week.  I plan on checking them out so I can test all the slugs better ;) They have some 18 lanes at 100 yards.

I wonder if Nick, (NSA), uses anything to aid in the sizing and ejecting of the bullets. Could be what your feeling on the slugs.

I use imperial sizing wax for the sizing operation. Nick may very well use something similar for sizing as well.

I have found for myself, that the 10 wt silicone rc shock oil works well.

As far as a larger die insert goes, it is very easy to polish one of the NOE inserts larger. Remember, we find more accuracy by going up 2 ten thou. Or .0002 at a time. Jumping from .357 to .358 is a Huge jump0 in the accuracy dept. It may very well completely miss the optimum size for your barrel. You want apx .0003 over groove diameter as the best in lowest friction, velocity, and accuracy in most barrels. And don't forget to polish the barrels bore, if not done by the maker. (Just about bet toms is already done on the AA's).

ToFazfou uses the lube that comes with the Lee dies. I hate the messy stuff.  More than one way to skin a polecat. LOL! ;)

I am filling my tanks as I type.  I am planning to go to the new range Friday, and hopefully I can shoot then.  I will be cleaning the Slayer's bore here in a little bit.  I won't shoot any lubed slugs to start out with.  I might try some lube (FP-10) later in the session to compare.  I will however clean the bore with FP-10 before dry patches.

Carl will be sending me some of his cast and sized slugs, so I want to do him the best job I can for his generosity.  This also benefits me as well and gives me some good trigger time   I am very interesting in doing some casting too, maybe in the future, IDK.  If this range works out, probably so.  Whichever is the most accurate is all I care about, wherever they come from.

I use slick 50 in a spray bottle.  I dont size most if the swage bullets, they are made in a sizer shaped like the slug.  The lube is to keep the die from leading up and to help eject the bullet out of the die.

The NSA's feel and look really good and smooth!  I checked the diameters and weighed a number of them, but then gave up quickly because there wasn't any difference in them to even talk about.  Wished pellets came like these.  I am about to test only the order I just received from you.  I will post the results on them afterwards.  I am really looking forward to the results.  I just cleaned the bore and it is spotless.

So I've got a .357 Texan, .357 Pitbull and a WAR .357 FLEX but after reading the reviews and comments from some Slayer owners I put the money down today on one as it looks like it will fill THE VOID the others weren't capable of.

I'm hoping for useful posts from the guys that already have one on tuning tips and shooting

Cool, you gonna love the Slayer .357,.....you'll notice the step up in quality immediately.

Yah, I've opened dies up before and probably will get another .357 die for that after I get the Slayer in my hands and can slug the barrel to see what size is best.
But for now, since Triggertreat does not cast or size (yet, haha) I'm going to send him 50 sized .358 and 50 sized .357 of 6 different bullets so he can see what his Slayer likes.

Shout-out - I was surprised while talking to another airgunner on the phone who had not noticed that one of the great things Nick/NSA does is offer different sizes in each weight which sure helps those guys without a big investment in gear try different sizes to find what their gun likes.  I had him log on and see that on the 140 gr the drop-down menu had .355, .356, .357 and .358.  He'd never noticed!!!

I took the .357 Slayer to the range today for the first time!  I had a lot of distractions from the PB crowd.  Most have never seen an airgun before.  I went to test the new NSA slugs I ordered in the previous post below.

I found that the .357 diameter slugs were easier to group than the .358s.  I do feel like I need to work on the tune or the fill pressure more to tighten up the groups more.  This was my first time with the gun at a range.  The wind was roughly 7 mph blowing from the northeast of me.

All shots are at 100 yards.

First up is the NSA 120gr .358 diameter.  I had the worst luck with grouping these.  I only have one group worth sharing.

Next up are two groups with the 140gr .358 diameter.  They were easier to get a group with, but not by much.

And the last three are the 142gr .357 diameter which are my favorites so far.  A lot easier to get a group going and to load as well.

All-in-all a good session and I learned quite a bit.  I should have shot some at 50 yards, but never did.  I never once touched my scope, which was dialed in at 50 yards.  I was happy I could get on paper right off the bat at 100 yards.  Chairgun was spot on!  I'll focus more on my tune/fill pressures and try again.

That is some great shooting at 100 yards with the .142gr slugs.. I'm super jealous of your group!
What power setting were you using while shooting at the range? Just curious, I have a 15 power scope on my Slayer.

Taking a break from casting.
Cra*, the sprue plate on the Lee 105 SWC has warped and it's throwing bullets with a tiny fin at the base.  I can't send these because they would be inaccurate.

I'll substitute some .25 NOE 250-50-FN which I sent off and had HP which drops the weight around 10gr. (Depends on alloy for exact weight you get)
Is that too heavy for your .25 rifle?

Thanks Randy!  You think the groups look good?  I am not use to shooting groups at 100 yards, so I wasn't real sure how well I did.  I'm more use to groups touching.  The scope is my signature.  I had it maxed at 25x.  The range made me wear safety glasses and hearing protection.  The glasses really messed with my sight, but I made it work.  I wasn't real comfortable, and didn't have the best setup for shooting that far out.  I will though on my next trip.

There are a lot of those in that NOE number listing, and would need the rest of that number to be sure.  The best I can tell is you're talking about either 37gr or 40gr with the 10gr HP loss.  If I am right about what I looked up, those would not be too heavy.  I just received a LW air tube today for my .25 cal.  It would be great to tune with those when I install the tube.  Thanks!

1.32 group at 100 yards is a dead dear or pig if they stop long enough to get the shot off and the shooter does there part.
My 2.3" group isn't the best but it will take care of a heart/lung shot! I like touching groups too. Headshots, they should be in whatever max range of touching shots IMO. I don't see much posting on great groups at 100 yards and beyond. The NUAH group shooting at 100 yards has a few guys doing it, but again not all 5 shots touching each other.

Yes, that's how I was thinking about the groups too.  Plenty accurate for deer/hogs at 100 yards or less, which was my whole point in getting the Slayer initially.  Now with a 100 yard range only 5 miles away, a lot of fun time too!
