I decided to "bite the pellet" and purchase a Ataman AP16.  The one I borrowed has a micro red dot scope.  So I don't want to skimp on a sight for the pistol.  Not sure about how much more useful a red dot would be that a simple green laser mount.  I would like to put on a red dot or laser on it and still be able to use the fixed sights (see under or thru type mount.)

Ideas anyone?

Thank You

M

I never had a pistol scope until I bought my PP700S-A, I had tried them a handful of times before but never got use to them.  I've been meaning to get a better scope than the cheap Centerpoint that I bought for it but I can do pretty good with it now.  I killed a baby ground hog at 30 yards with it.  The one I have is 2X.

The BSA pistol scope is pretty nice. The eye relief listed on the advertisement sounds worse than it is. At least the few I've got in have a nice arms length eye relief.
It is only a 2x, but I was surprised how much difference that makes, for me anyway!

Well the Ataman AP-16 maybe out now.  It turns out you can no longer get the Ataman AP-16 LDC into the USA at the moment.  Even Krale Schietsport no longer ships to USA.  Man that pistol is VERY LOUD without it.  Looking to source an alternative LDC which resides in the USA.  Most of them are bigger in diameter, longer and finished in black which I don't care for because I would like to order a nickel (Silver) AP-16.

Reading your post again I see you are not looking for a scope. Sorry about missing that. I've found lasers fun, especially when using at a set distance so you can just get the laser on the target and shoot. The green are supposed to be a lot better in daylight than the red.

Thanks for the reply.  Looking at different sights for the pistol so you post was valid.  First issue I have to solve is figuring out an LDC so I could even use a AP-16 as it is way too loud without it.

Get with Donny for your LDC, he will set you up with the right one. He does have the adapters for it.

Yea I seen that adapter and may try one on the gun I borrowed.  Wondering if one could sand blast it because I really want a silver one.

Give him a call, he might could make you one in silver, you never know until you ask. He does respond to emails quickly and can recommend which one would work best.

I asked Donny FL if he has plans to do silver versions of his LDCs and he does not.

You can have them beadblasted but they will scratch and scuff easily with minimum pressure. Got a Feddersen receiver, which I had blasted and even if I am ultra meticulous there is no way to maintain its pristine condition, hence I will have it chrome or nickel plated.

Perchance a silver Cerakote would work on the Donny FL but I must tell you that his machining is extremely precise and a close tolerance fit, albeit Cerakote is said to be a very thin film.

My favorite color is the Tungsten Grey because it matches handsomely with silver, black, etc., and is metallic in nature.

I have this color on a couple of my airguns and rimfires.

The Ataman has no rail; what laser do you plan to install under its tube?

I have a green Viridian laser for my compact pistol, which I installed on top of the scope and it works at short distances.

Whatever you procure, I suggest GREEN as it is highly visible in broad daylight.

I worked in a big powder coating place in Shipping Receiving for about 2 1/2 years, they had all kinds of neat colors they did.  They had a silver matt finish that was tough too.  I'm not really sure how much current they ran through the lines to hold the powder on the parts but they sure did a good job.  Emplyee's could bring in their own stuff when they ran the right color they wanted too.  Some of my old motorcycle buddies brought their stuff down there, they could get about a truck load of frames done for about $400.

Powder coat is tremendously tough too, although it is a thick paint. Really durable as evinced by the durabilty of aircon and refrigerator toppings.

Had my Crosman frames (because they flake off easily and are ugly as *(&^ in finish) coated by this type of process and tbey came out really elegant.

The Satin Black looks distinguished. I have no idea why matte is popular. Never did like it. I prefer a tinge of sheen on my hardware but that is my preference.

The Ataman pistol in silver looks classy; I like it. It would look tremendous as a carbine, really.

Excellent choice, Invision, but then again it is obvious that you have a flair for branded "things".

Yea it will come to be as there are some folks here on GTA that are great hobbyist.   A little help from them here or there and I will get a nice pistol together.

Now define "flair for branded"things"".  ;-)

As far as a sight I also borrowed a friends Ultra Dot and it was sweet.  I wish it came in green :-(.

Lol! Yes, you have nice guns, sir!

Yes, they are Japan made red dots.

Had 1, the Pan AV but sold it after I got because I had to leave for the US back in 2016.

Got a pic of it around here.

Really liking the Ultra Dot.   Here is setup with a match dot sight.  Huggett on a DonnyFL adapter.  Ordered in a carbon fiber LDC which may look better.  Also found a set of silver sight thru rings.

What range are you hunting?
Shooting as a pistol, I would opt for a 2X Leopold.
As it has no recoild you can use any rifle scope that you can hold steady.
I use 2X Leopolds on:
IZH46M
TC Contenders:
.357 Magnum
.44 Magnum

On the .22lr and .223 Contenders I use a 2-6X Bushnell..Rested..
