I'm just starting to test the ZR mount on my d48 .22.

I'll be interested in hearing what you think about it after using it. Looks to me like it should be a great scope mounting system for springers!

Yogi, My 54 trigger pull is super long "to me" as well. One thing that I don't like is that if you pull in the 1st stage and decide not to take the shot, its not like a Rekord which feels like it goes back to the beginning but just "flops" there. I hope that I made sense. lol

Good catch Yogi. I started adjusting the trigger to try to create a shorter, more crisp 2nd stage and found this long 1st stage an acceptable side-effect of my playing. Your comment makes me want to further play/adjust...

Anyhow, this morning before church the weather was ideal for some more shooting with the Diana ZR mounts on the 48. I decided to shoot two groups of 10-shots with a variety of pellets hoping to get 100 or so shots in before I had to leave. I shot Crosman Premiere Hollow Points, JSB Express 14.3, JSB Exact 15.9, and JSB 18.3 pellets. Then I circled back and shot 10 more of CPHPs and which ever was best (this ended up being the JSB 15.9s).

Well, everything worked fine. I guess the two desired outcomes are (1) not breaking any more scopes and (2) consistent shots. Question 2 will take more than one day of testing but so far I'm satisfied :-)

Here are some pics. All shots were at 33-yards and all groups are 10-shots. The scope I'm using is an old UTG 4-16. I am noticing quite a bit of image blurriness until the scope and its internals stabilize from the 40+ degree temperature differential between inside and outside. The D48 typically shoots about 19.5 fpe.

How is the view through the scope with the ZR mount during the shot cycle? Most springers jump so much when you fire the shot seeing the target is blurred so you cant see the impact. Watching the video it kinda looks like the scope view may be improved.

I stack em up with the rest of the other pellets for other guns. Then use em for crony work, test firing and checking out the gun after screwing with it.

You know now that you mention it, the view did seem a bit more stable. Not PCP-like, but better.

And yup, I like having CPHPs on hand just to hit spinner and other reaction targets. They won't go to waste!

I've got this same mount on my D54 and so far it seems to work great. So far only used it indoors at 10 yes but shoots everything into one hole. Cpum, cphp, and h&h ftt. I don't even think about the mount anymore, just gonna use it until the present scope, center point 4-16 Walmart cheapie breaks and then maybe get something nicer maybe Leupold efr

Not critically necessary but highly recommended . Wheeler fat wrench is readily available and designed for gun use. About $40 on line or at Cabela’s or similar gun shops. It plus a kit of metric Allen bits will make it better. 35in/lb on the clamping bolts to put the Mount on. Hector Medina’s recommended 10 in/lb for the ring screws. More isn’t needed as the ZR base absorbs the recoil very well

The 48-54 series has a very long trigger pull. I measured it to be about 1 cm. You can learn to live with it or you can do a pretty simple trigger modification if you have the T06 trigger. Remove stock and watch the trigger movement. By the way you can cock the trigger with a screwdriver to move the trigger lever to latch it. There is a small aluminum tab in front of the trigger blade. You can drill a hole with the correct bit for a 4-40 or similar screw in the tab. Tap it to take the screw put a Allen screw in place. Be sure it is straight and the end touches he trigger blade. Adjust the screw to shorten the first stage pull to a reasonable length. I didn’t have to tinker with the second stage at all. Leave about 1/8” of travel to make sure everything works.

Yes interrupting the trigger pull leaves the blade flopping around. Lighter springs make it worse but can get you a safe trigger less than 12oz. One appraoachnis to pull through the first stage, stop, reposition your finger and take the second stage pull. It is similar to a set trigger then. Something not for the inexperienced though. This will work on paper targets on a bench. Not so much on ft or hunting style. Hector Medina recommended a smooth sweep through both the first stage and second stage. Sort of like with a shotgun. This is a European style pull. I’m not too good at it but it is effective when popping chipmunks.

I have two ZR 1 accurized by Hector Medina. Just re-zeroed both rifles today at 17yds (indoor 50' range) after shuffling scopes around and re-torquing the screws.

I was able to see the target and pellet impact point easily in both cases. Short enough range and fast enough pellets, I couldn't see the pellet arrive though. I thought I did once but not sure.

Anyway, my 54s with ZR 1 are remarkably stable and scopes easy to see through. Interesting too, The rifle moves little enough that "imperfect" shots (that is not dead center at the aim point, With good followthrough the crosshairs are on the poi. saying the rifle moved a bit during firing. More with my OEM .177 than with the Hector Medina 20 cal special though.

I ordered a D430L package from AOA it came with the ZR1 mount and scope the ZR1 mount worked so well that I ordered another one from PA. when It got here it was badly rusted didn't want to wait to send it back so I cleaned up the rust and lightly lubed with spring oil on a Qtip. I mounted it on my RWS 350 Magnum in 22. this gun has already eaten one Sighttron scope and two UGT drooper mounts. Put a Discover 6+24 scope on the ZR mount.So far Iv shot about 200 pellets in my garage at 20ft (my outdoor range is snowed in] So far gun is shooting one hole groups with H+N FTT and no POI shift. I used Hectors advise and torqued rings at 10 inches and base at 35.Iv been shooting spring guns for years and have played the scope and mount game with varying results and so far I think the new ZR1 mount my be a real game changer.
