In general, what is considered is the extreme spread ES = maximum speed minus minimum speed; as a rule of thumb, things ok if the ES is up to 4% of the average speed.

In terms of accuracy, I suggest that you realize what makes you happy to your 'needs', with a reasonable (to you) consistency concerning group sizes x distances. In other words, don't give a chance for stress based on what others say that are capable of.

Acceptable variance is something different to each shooter.

I would *like* to have no more than 2% ES (extreme spread), but anything under 5 or 6% ES is acceptable and usable for me.   Probably even higher than that when it comes to differences in POI at the distances I usually shoot.   25-35 yards most of the time and occasionally 55 yards.   The longer the distance the more the ES will matter.

I would *like* to have no more than 2% ES (extreme spread), but anything under 5 or 6% ES is acceptable and usable for me.   Probably even higher than that when it comes to differences in POI at the distances I usually shoot.   25-35 yards most of the time and occasionally 55 yards.   The longer the distance the more the ES will matter. 

I have the clamp-on model.
It works excellent when you can clamp it on the barrel. 
It will give a reading every time inside or out when it is clamped on the barrel.
You cannot clamp it on a P17 barrel so you must shoot very carefully thru it to get a reading.
When I carefully shoot thru it 10 times with a P17, I will get 4 or 5 readings.
You cannot sight in a gun while using the clamp on model because it changes the POI of the pellet.
I like my clamp on model more than my ProChrono Pal and my Caldwell Kit for airguns.

The tripod model has more sensors so it will give a reading for a larger area.
I assume that if you are shooting from a bench you could put the tripod model on the bench and shoot thru it while sighting in or shooting targets, but you would need to be careful to not shoot it.

Please note, these little chronographs are for airguns only, NOT for firearms.

Earl, I completely removed the clamp on mine when testing the P17s.   That allowed me to place the muzzle consistently where I *thought* it should be and I had no errors.

I think I shot through it that way for about 50 or so shots and always got a reading and the readings were VERY consistent.   YRMV   
Also, I HAVE sighted in AGs with the MVM clamped on and noticed NO POI changes when I removed it.   Go figure...

I ordered the trip pod model 
The FWB 124 is a break barrel Springer. I did not want the potential hassle of cocking with the unit clamped to the front

Just me but I am looking for target accuracy even though I would consider myself a plinker. My goal is to get the best this gun has to offer

To my break barrels, I (carefully) rest the muzzle on the opened clamp.

To improve accuracy, you will have to pay special attention for the trigger weight adjustment; it has to be light enough to squeeze, without ruining all your other efforts.

 I just got mine. It is very light. But for less than $29 bucks who cares! It is a backup for my air chrony. They measure only 6 feet different.

For a springer with a tune kit, fresh properly sized seals, and an appropriate application of lube, I would hope for an ES of no more than 15fps.

I received mine from Aliexpress on Friday 7 February. I ordered it on the 19th of January.  First off a big thanks to Lonewolf54 for emailing the instructions.  I couldn’t get the link he posted to work but a pm got a fast response with a pdf. I did a quick test this morning after charging the unit for about 2 hours. Works really slick. Simple to use.  I shot 16 shots then went to the saved shot feature and recorded the MPS readings.  Multiplied them each by 3.28 for FPS readings. I got the tripod model.  Tripod is junk but not a big deal  I just set the chronograph on a box on my work bench and set up a muzzle rest to keep the distance from the chronograph always the same and to make sure I didn’t shoot the chronograph.  Moving forward or back 3-4 inches didn’t seem to affect the readings.  It read out every time and never gave an error message. If you had a gun that the clamp on chronograph would fit and you wanted to make adjustments that required moving the gun around a lot I could see that being very handy not having to keep re-aligning gun and chronograph. This was my first purchase from aliexpress and I can say I was impressed. For my purpose of knowing velocity changes when turning a power adjuster this is exactly what I needed

Searching for chronograph gives me pages of wrist watches, and searching "velocity meter" or "shooting meter" gives about 384 places to buy the clamp-on model.  After a few more fruitless searches, I gave up and returned here.

I've been using my tripod model for over a year now (can that be possible?!?) and other than nicking it with a pellet- which is no fault of the unit other than the shooting "window" is small- it has proven to be a reliable, accurate little unit. A VERY good value, in my opinion.

Finally got to use mine yesterday after 8 months (long story).  Was using it  to tune in my .30 Marauder.
 Super easy to use, a bit challenging to understand the interpreted  instructions provided earlier in the thread, but easy enough.  Thanks Doug for translating! Still need to figure out a few things.   
One of the best airgun values for me.  I do want to compare it with the Pro Chrono at a later date.
