It is an ugly LDC....but in my eyes, the whole rifle is ugly....so if I de-ugle the barrel, it would just draw attention to the rifle butt (same reasoning makes a big-butt girl look more attractive if they are blessed with a big bust line).

Yup, just ordered mine though Walmart, so I can return it if it doesn't measure up ;-)

Got one of those cheap Chinese hand pumps and a Leapers scope for it already. Figured it would be a good loaner setup to entice some of the local airgun newbies around the hood.

ONly had one for 10-11 days....really have little to complain about , and much to praise. NEver had another inexpensive PCP fall into line as quickly/easily.

I must be the only one on the planet that likes the looks of it :o  Mine won't get any shooting till after the first of the year when work slows down some. I should be getting my package from the Netherlands for it shortly. I ordered a one piece probe, and one of those other things they sell because it was on a black Friday sale. I normally hate thumbhole stocks, but this is the most ergo air rifle I own and will surely see some action in the near future.

You're not alone. I like mine very much. It isn't a pretty rifle but I like the simple, sturdy purposefulness of it. I like my Bantam in that same way; my two favorite rifles.

I got pretty good deals on both.

$172 Urban
$899 Bantam

The Bantam cost is over 5 times the cost of the Urban and I'm pretty sure it is not 5 times the rifle! 🙂

I've been able to tune the Bantam with it's Harper Sling Shot Hammer to produce 60 shots @ 14.5 fpe w/2.5% ES from 160 bar (2300 psi). To repump takes just 60 pumps of my modest Benjamin HPA pump; 1 pump/shot. I'm very satisfied.

Still, if all I had left was the Urban, I'd have a lot of fun and be pretty darn content!

I've been tuning my $900 Bantam 177 for 900 fps with 6.8 grain GTOs to plink lead-free in my forest. Today I tried to hit my 10" gong at 82 yds; missed 18 of 20 shots. Depressing!

Then I tried the 22 Urban GTOs (73% heavier). Hit it 5 times out of 6.

The wind is at my back today (see photo) and wind from behind can do funny things with light pellets (177 in particular).

Later, I noticed the wind had died down and hit my 82 yd gong 5 of 5 times with the Bantam.

So that Urban, shooting 22, for $140 is a heck of an air gun deal! I've used the Urban in a 25mph crosswind to hit the gong at 82 yds.

All shooting resting just the pistol grip(s) on my deck rail, no bag, no stool.

Bantam 16x scope 56mm
Urban 9x scope 32mm

I think you're gonna like the Urban.

Was going to keep it "out the box"....did very well that way.

I caved.

Adjusted the suppliedstriker spring adjustment (nice they made the stock screw size the same as the striker adjustment size).
Did the trigger screw swap.

9 minutes and done.

No reason to deny yourself a nicer trigger and just the fps you want when the two adjustments are sooooo easy and simple to do. 🙂

FedEx just delivered. Quickly slapped an ol' Leapers scope on her and this is the first 10 shot group at 22yds.
Not bad for a $200 gun! It will take me a bit to get better groups, because my old eyes are so used to the high power scopes.

Nice looking groups Fussell.

I've got mine shooting in the mid to low 600's, need to chrono it again since I made some changes earlier. Had a chance to shoot a bit during my lunch break, at the low power setting I had a few 5 shot groups at 50 yards that could be covered by a dime, those made me smile. Had some that could be covered by a half-dollar, those also made me smile. I was outside, the sun was out (for about 5 minutes), and I was shooting a "budget" gun using cheap CPHP's.

trigger job didn't change the measured average group size, but it is easier to shoot, so suspect it would be a benefit away from the bench.

I looked at it this way:

It'scalled the "URBAN"....

So figured it should be of a noise level and power level suitable for urban shooting....I just made it conform to that with about 9min. of work.

I didn't spend much time with it as it was cold outside and dark was nearing and critters needin' feedin'.

Bought it as a loaner. Got a friend I'm gonna loan it out to this Christmas as he want's something he can do with his daughter. Not sure what distance they will be shooting and just zeroed it at 22 yds to start with. I was shooting 18 gr JSB's and didn't have time to drag the chrony out. Got a cheap chinese hand pump he can use with it. Haven't even tried it out yet.
I didn't like the magazine at first, but then I thought "Hey this is simple for a beginner to use". The Marauder type magazine would be a little more confusing to them? I'm spoiled by the Kalibrgun mags! LOL

It's fun and reminds me of when I first started out with my very first Marauder. I will say it's not in the same league as either of the Marauders I've had.

UPS delivery has pretty reliably been from 3:30 to 4:30 PM for years at my house...That is about sunset here this time of year... :(

I did want the Longer Barrel Of the .22 Buc for the Heavy stuff but  hey even at about 650 fps the 30g BBT will be fun to see how accurate  I can get them to be...

Ed set a decent bar

https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=149700.20

https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=150114.0

I do need to cast another batch of the BBT  first but it will be fun seeing how it goes... Long term may carve my own stock for it and get it a longer barrel... It looks real nice in a Buc stock with a shroud also...

https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=134362.0

stock is some $ but is available...

http://www.airgunspares.com/store/product/18754/BSA-Buccaneer-Stock-Beech-SS/

that is the slight second...not a slight second is a bit more...

they have the yote stock also...

well the sun is sitting on the ridge so will not get to make a quick drive and test today... wonder if the Ruger pointed will do ok... or the Remington round nose...will be fun finding out.. ;)

Jimmy;
Be sure to school them on cycling the mag. If the bolt is not pull far enough to set the sear it will still chamber a pellet. Then when the bolt is pulled again it will double load. Chances are, if a double load is fired it will clip and damage the LDC (pickle).
If the sear does not engage on the first attempt, teach them to pull the bolt back and remove the mag before pushing it back in to avoid double loading.
I have double loaded a couple times and got lucky. Others.. not so much.
Another tip would be to to use a bright colored paint marker to mark the last position on the mag. This will help to avoid dry firing the gun. A dry fire won't hurt the gun but (especially if hand pumping) it will waste air. It could also be frustrating if you are zeroed in on a critter and PFFFTTT, no pellet.
