I remember reading some one posted that until you you've got 1000 psi in the rifle things will move around which is what I saw last night when I put my rifle back together. I hadn't installed the barrel or the stock just the air tube/reg to the receiver to get it aired up and until there was that 1000 psi threshold it would flex and rotate. I know every time I go to shoot it after putting it back together the scope is no where near zero.

Well, got her all back together and holding air perfectly BUT, the hammer and the pellet probe are really hard to move when cocking. The hammer is just about seized in the receiver and was giving me very scattered vel. !st shot after getting her back together came in at 1114 fps with a CPHP 14.3. I've going yeh!! Then I did a 5 5 shot string with some 25.31 rabbits and was getting around 45 fpe. Decided to try the H&N 21.14 cudas and all of a sudden I'm getting 500 and 600 fps readings. WTHeck. Went ahead and disassembled her back down to parts and man the hammer and pellet probe are very hard to move where just before I put it back together the hammer would fall down into the receiver of it's own weight. Can't figure out what in the heck is happening. I'm not over tighting anything that would cause the receiver to get pinched.

Robert, if the hammer wont fall free into or out of the receiver. its gotta be the hammer stop in the receiver thats a little tight from getting hit.

take a 1/2 ball end mill or 1/2 reamer with 45 degree cuts, clean the edge a little bit. that should take care of it.

Well, the hammer problem is fixed. It must have been a burr that was hanging up the hammer. Just took a 31/64 drill bit, locked into the vice and sloowly turned the receiver and it was hard to turn for a full turn but after that freed right up. Now the hammer slides right in and out with no problems. 31/64 is .002 larger than the small part of the hammer and it worked out great. Now I'm trying to figure out where in the heck the burr came from?

Well, now for the continuing story of My Liberty! Everything back together. Vel not what they should be so I depressurized it again. Turned the reg adj down to 1/4 turn cw. Pressurized it back up to 3000 psi with the stock spring this time and the HS adj turned in until the spring coil bound then backed it off so it would cock. Still not working like it should so until I depressurized it down to 2500 psi. Thinking that the reg vent hole is plugged again disassembled the reg and using a pin vice and .042 drill bit went to try and clean it out. The drill bit got real hard to turn so tried to back it out and don't ya know it, broke the bit!!!!! Double dang dang!!!! Vent hole is plugged up completely so not sure what to do about drilling another hole to vent the reg. Frustrated as heck!! Almost to the point of just using it like a none reg air rifle.
Oh, and I think the hammer is hanging up again!

give me the shot string data. what was the velocities like? what do you think went wrong before you decide to drill the reg vent hole?

it sounded like the velocities were very low at first and climbs as the pressure drops?

I turned the reg down 1/4 turn cw to try and get vel that was more than 650 with the pressure up at 3000. Could get it up to around 800 after the pressure was down to around 2500 where before I was getting 1114 with the same 14.3 pellet. Just need to step away from it for the rest of the day and do something else.

Fix it! Drilled a new hole with a .046 drill and I think the hammer problem was caused by me over tightening the screw that hold in the valve but won't know until I can do some shot strings tomorrow. Did shoot one CPHP 14.3 and got 1071 FPS and that was with 3K psi.

How loud was/is it at 1071 fps?

Almost as loud as the 1114 fps I did 2 days ago. Loud!! Once I finally get it shooting consistent I'm going to try and quite it down some. I've got the peek poppet sealing up just fine.

feed it two pellets and see what the velocity is like pushing heavier slugs, 28 grains should do 840fps, but your potential is still upper 55fpe with higher reg

888 at what regulator pressure? 3000psi?
