Tuned HW97k

Hi guys,

Just got into airguns recently so I mostly read and try to gain knowledge. I seem to have a chipmunk problem around the house so a quality springer seemed to be a viable option.

Once I found this forum and realized the vast amount of information available I reached out to one of the members (Chacho) to get an idea what was available and recommendations.  As everyone knows he is a huge proponent of both HW and John in PA.

So I sent my newly Krale purchased HW97kt to John for his full tune.  Also added one of his brass safeties, a Rowan setback brass straight trigger and Rowan brass cocking aid.  Used Sportsmatch rings and mounted a Athlon 4-14x44 scope.

So far I'm shooting quarter size groups at 30 yds, not the rifles fault that's all me.

Included in this post are the before and after stats which to me are impressive.

Very nice !  We're doing the same thing but in the opposite direction.  I bought the hw 97 from krale with the synthetic stock which comes in 16j.  Bought a Vmach kit to tune it down to 12j.  Just started tobreak it in and it is shooting 10.34 gr bet 711 and 717.  Still playing with the scope.

Have fun!

Congrats on the new hw97k.

17.9fpe is pretty hot for a hw97k.  But if you are pleased with the accuracy, that is all that matters.  My .177 hw97k is my favorite and most accurate springer and is setup at about 12.5fpe.  That is plenty of power for small game out to 40 yards.

These guns are built like a tank and will give you decades of shooting.

Great choice of gun, and tuner. John is the best in my book, he has done all of my springers. He also does PCP guns too. The HW97K is a great shooter. Try the GTO ammo for hunting, you will love it, very accurate and flat shooting.

  Congrats Brother Man

How do you word it... "Air Guns" or "AirGuns"?
