Gonna go visit an old buddy over in east Florida.  I have to go out to the shed and pick an air rifle (or two) to give him.  I repaired a trash pile find Remington Air Master for him years ago but he says it has died.  Thinking about giving him the ProwlFire or perhaps both of the Benjamin Summit Rangers.  He’s got two boys who will be old enough for air rifles soon.

When you have been at this as long as I have you to will have a closet full of cheap air rifles that your spouse would sooner see gone.

I have to think up clever ways to get rid of them.  Most of them are too cheap to sell or they are dud guns for one reason or another.  The Benjis are mediocre shooting guns but good enough to plink soda cans and good enough to teach the boys gun safety and marksmanship.

Yesterday I received a like new AA TX200 in beech.
To go along with my other one in walnut.
It was deal I couldn’t pass up.
Ten coats of BLO this morning.
Installed cocking handle and two o-rings.
Installed 8x32 Hawke AirMax.
Zeroed at 10 yards here in the yard (garage side door😵‍💫).
Final zero will take place with the Duckfish at Diablo on Wednesday..

I took a bit slower approach to the day today. I got a late start first of all and it got hot quickly. I don't do well in the mid day southern Alabama heat. Even less as I age.
So I took things alot slower. First thing was remove the last 2 top boards from the 8' 2x6 picnic table I am repurposing and carried them to the saw horses.
My second run at it was to clean all the screws and nails out of the boards. These will be used as the 2 remaining rafters on the lean to.
I'm done for the day but I plan to get an early start in the morning and get the rafters in and get the bridge blocks cut.

I used a piece of foam rubber I had laying around to make a quick and dirty rifle rest I made a U shape in a piece of scrap 2X6 and nailed it to another piece of scrap 2X6 Then I glued a strip of the rubber onto the U shaped piece and I had a cheap rifle rest that works great👍😃

I did a little targeting with the 853 and it was just one of those days where I could have
thrown the pellets blindfolded and hit the target center.
Ok, that was a little bit of an exaggeration, but it was just a good shootin' day.

I used mostly the top row to refine zero after that it was right down the line to the bottom.
I shot 3 shots at each target and it turned out pretty well.

 

Then my eyes started getting over used and I stopped.
