I opened mine up to inspect the filter and there was a small amount of discoloration right at the center where the hole for the air is.But when I put it back together I overtightened it and it leaked badly and wrecked the O ring. It was pretty obvious in that the compresser would not get past 1,000 psi and the air leak was easy to find with some soapy water.I replaced the O ring, applied a little Permatex "form a gasket" hand tightened it, and now it is leak free.No shooting for me today, having a couple of trees taken out in the back yard so I have to keep my distance
refrigerator = BEER cooler!I would call that a + !
That's how those thing go sometimes = I was telling my mother/passenger that my '99 FourRunner was really running great; and I was going to keep it for several more years. Later, one of the connecting rods turned right when the rest went straight. <--- That happened that same day when I was on my way home from her house. Side story: The service manager at the Toyota place said: That is strange; those engines usually go 250,000 - 300,000 miles with no problems. That really made me feel better. <---PURPLE for sarcasm!
Robert, that engine failure was ten years ago last month. So, when I say "I think" it was the 3.4 liter, you can understand where I am coming from. It didn't have a supercharger, but was a very strong engine when pulling a heavy U-Haul and such. It was the nice, LIMITED package and I really missed it. One of the mechanics at the dealership bought it from me. (He had an engine that would fit.) Don, is it just me or do other think there are too many "Throw Away" appliances these days!
