What airgun related did you do today?

I did it! It's feeling right again! My D48 is my first high quality and favorite rifle. It means so much that she's back in health.

Nothing today... I was following Betty Lou's flight to Ohio after taking her to the airport.
I hope to get some good sleep tonight and tomorrow can be more of a normal day.
I'll get started on a few planned projects and try to get some shooting in between.

Previewed a lot of auction stuff.   I'm torn between I want more stuff and I have too much stuff.   Do I need another Crosman 600?     I do need a S&W 79G.  I wont talk about the PBs I saw and need.

De-gassed the Crosman 3622.  I may go ahead and remove the plastic breech too.  I don't know if I'm up to installing the steel breech tonight but that's the plan for tomorrow.  Once the steel breech is installed I'm going to do a shoot off against the multi-pump C362.

Went back to the nearby USACOE permission and all the neighbors were silent.  Camped out at two previous squirrel harvest sites and no viewings but I could hear nut cutting....On the field test the handguard/romeo Notos weighs nothing and I didn't mind toting her without a sling.  Could make target acquire quicker walking from the low ready position essentially.  Then I got home and in a true SSS pledge moment realized if I take the rear pic rail off the Notos I have dovetails on either side of the mag.  Sadly my two dovetail scope rings are mid height and would interfere with the CARM 12 round mag.  So all I need is some "high" dovetail rings and I can keep the handguard AND CP 3-12 which moves the to be purchased bipod and existing front sling QDC to a soon to be purchased MLok to Pic rail section....I have one on the MSR for sling mounting can't remember if it came as a pair?

Rushed from work to the other USACOE permission for a nice 2 mile walk/scout.  Once again heard but didn't see Mr. Nutter.  This permission is a finger that sticks into Lake Allatoona and has almost no houses anywhere near it :-)  Always very peaceful.  Back to the SSS pledge Neanderthal...two steps from the car dropped the Notos from the low ready position handguard hit gravel and crackled the 3D guard.  To the designer's credit the guard stayed firmly attached just the last two inches had a crack all the way around....For me I would need an aluminum MLok rail like my MSR or at least the same material as the grips/stock/toprail as I can torture test a rifle to death.  I'm going to mount the CP scope on the toprail which gives me my sling mount back.  I've figured out I'm not a rifle red dot guy and I need/use the sling more than a bipod for hunting.  Not sure where this Sig Romeo will end up as I really wanted to like it and the optics are clear.  Sadly I have become magnification dependent...lol.
Last observation I plinked some pine cones returning to the car.  The no moderator ported Notos is LOUD.  I guess the Rocker1 moderator will finish this Notos off nicely.

  I got the homemade trigger in my previous above post adjusted, and it works as good as any custom one I own. I replaced the nitrile O rings on the flat top piston head with 70D polyurethane ones and they picked up some FPS over the older nitrile.  It was 620 at 12 pumps now 645fps with .22cal 14.3g hollow points.  This little carbine is a favorite built from a 2200 tube, 1377 flattop valve/piston setup, Disco trigger pack and walnut 342 stock.

 I did the full treatment on a replacement Stoeger S3000-C TAC .22 rifle (B12).
Cleaned and deburred it, lightly stoned the sear and lubed it correctly. Shoots super smooth now, but I think the seal is undersized as it shoots slow and erratically.
Luckily I have seals on the way already.

Before the LGR trip I stuffed the Notos  in a vise and leveled up the breech, then leveled the CP 3-12AO scope.  After the LGR posted in what did you shoot thread, Babygirl and I spent the day together so we made it to Rich Mountain Cartecay Tract WMA for a beautiful 2.5 mile hike with the Notos.  No squirrel sign, but one deer track and started OnX mapping the "easy" trails.  Sat down in the middle of the trail at the 1.3 mile mark and ate lunch enjoying the view of Earth Mother.....
Came home and shoved the 5 cast pellets out of the pp800r that got stuck at the LGR.

As usual, a project that could take well less than an hour tuns into an afternoon.  The diana ems has a new piston seal and a grs spring from arh now.  The gun has a nice, sand/green stock. The mechanical noise was way too loud. Now its not bad. I learned some things about the trigger since the gun wouldn't fire sometimes when reassembled.  A safety spring got bent since I didn't use dummy pins so I had to figure that out and bend it back.

A tip to EMS folks who might find the gun not fully cocking to the point of engaging the trigger mechanism fully: put the rear guide into the trigger group snuggly so that it's like one piece before putting both into the spring and gun simultaneously (this is different than the typical springer reassembly approach of having the rear guide in the spring and then putting the trigger group in behind it afterwards). This would have saved me a lot of time if I had known to do it before, but learning is always too late when it's learning from experience. There's an innocence in that.

Turns out the wood pp800r grip is thicker than the Chaser grip and thus comes with a longer main bolt.  Swapped to a shorter bolt and eliminated all grip wobble.

Checked my pellet inventory for what to order next. I don’t actually need more right away. I’m hankering to buy “stuff”, which might not be a good thing.

Sure feels different to have reached a stage of life in which money and time aren’t limited in the way they used to be. Ironically (and irritatingly) the things I want have been replaced in manufacturing by what I consider inferior versions. It’s been almost 20 years since I eagerly watched what new automobiles/trucks were being made. Now I just want what I already have to “live” forever. New no longer is necessarily appealing.

That's pretty much how I feel.   I'm pretty satisfied with what I have and want every item to last as long as I live.   I get a lot more pleasure out of saying  "yup, I've had that  ______ item for 30 or 40 or 50 years"  than I would get from talking about something new.  Unless it's a  recently acquired old gun.

I know it’s gotten bizarre when the most interesting gun to me is a Girandoni, which would be way too heavy and big for me even if available. The fascination is that an accurate, powerful, quiet rifle with a prepumpable detachable air container existed so long ago.

Then again, modern bicycles work the same way that old ones do. That’s a beautiful thing.
