What airgun related did you do today?

Ron, I started refinishing shotgun stocks many years ago when hunting ducks in the rain.  Shotgun stocks took a beating in the marshlands and need refinishing about every five years.  So, I got plenty of practice that I brought to air guns.  It is basically the same process.

Ron, the Discovery I bought in 2013 had an unattractive finish.  I sanded the finish off [completely] and applied several coats of Birchwood Tru-Oil.  That was in 2014, before the rifle went to my brother.  He has used it every season since then, and has not done anything to it since he got it.  The rifle still looks nice.


Whirly, I wore the black rubber gloves (from Harbor Freight) while applying the Tru-Oil.  That allowed my hands to stay clean.  And I don't have any pets in the house. 

Yeah, cat hair on everything is just a given in my house... 

The gloves are a great suggestion. For some reason, I always forget to put any type of gloves on before I do something that makes me think "I really should have put gloves on before starting this project..."

These are the gloves that I have been using for years.  They are very durable and can be use more than once.  [I even carry a pair along while hunting.  My hands stay clean while I am cleaning the squirrels in the woods.

I just successfully re-blued the barrel of my very first adult springer, a Beeman-Webley Vulcan II, purchased new several decades ago. I first tried G96 Gun Blue because it worked extremely well at touching up a spot on a Hatsan Mod 25 Supercharger, but I was getting very uneven results on the Vulcan's metal, so I switched over to Brownell's Oxpho-Blue, which gave the barrel a very nice, consistent, dark (but not black) blue with only two passes with some light burnishing with steel wool after each pass.

It's interesting that one bluing agent would work better than the other, depending on the metal it is applied to.

And, yes, I forgot to put gloves on this time too.

In all fairness, I hadn't read your (Bicycleman) glove-wearing advice until just now.

I took the silencer off on my home brewed 3622.. yeah, I know.. "it's not a 3622".. close enough for southern Alabama rules. 
It's a 2k fill 36" .22 made with Crosman parts.   

Anyways.. I put a factory sight on with fiber optics blade. Why? Because I like loud and proud... it's another southern Alabama thing, I reckon. Besides... I never scared any targets enough to make them run away because the gun was too loud and I have yet to have a neighbor complain. maybe because I ain't got no stinking neighbors that care. 
And boy does it ever love my cast pellets, both RF and WC.

That's a good suggestion. In keeping with my theme of "cheap" I may do one of my home rattle can camo paint jobs on it.

 I swapped pins in my .22 wadcutter molds only 1 different pin in my 2 cavity will cast and compare test later.

Yeah... I'm going to test the short pins as well... I have the medium pins in right now and they did ok but I want to explore all options.
It almost makes me wonder if the majority of the weight being in the back of the pellet will make it tumble in flight.

LOL... you might be shooting them backwards even if you load them nose first.

Meanwhile I'm killing the environment as I keep a box of disposable Harbor Freight gloves in the garage.  keep about 3-6 pairs in the front pouch.  Put them on when cleaning squirrels or fish.  Slide on a pair from the garage when I change the oil....
