What airgun related did you do today?

Seems to me Bill had some Tool / Die experience before he got that cushy Materials job.
 

Yeah, 'bout 10 years at a Honda supplier.
I guess I spoke too soon on the lathe. Evidently the belt had dry rotted and broke on me in the middle of making the second adjustment knob. Guess I'll be shopping for a new mini. Might as well go all in. I know a guy that could use this one for parts... I'll donate it to him.

I had a bunch of swingers laying around including a Steelplinkers that you stuck in the ground.
A friend gave me a Steelplinkers base and I fashioned a portable swinger system along with an aluminum box to which  I added wheels.
It works well and is easily moved around.
I was thinking I might use a remote controlled truck/jeep to pull it around...

Yeah, that's all I need for what I do. Heck, I could almost do it all with my bench drill press except for barrel chopping and crowning.

Inaugurated the late morning with a pistol shoot: getting to know both my Colt Army SA John Wayne Commemorative .177 and my Crosman Vigilante better.

First, the Vigilante is the real deal for ease of accuracy and power. It delivers (nope, don't have a chrony but the longer I'm in this hobby the more I need want one). That "more power" is attached with a louder shooter. This gun is fine for a little shooting, but it's way louder than my break barrels.

Second, the Colt Army SA revolver is just outstanding. Well, the open sights are a pain, but I've about got the measure of it (though I need a magnifying glass to see the tiny tip of the end sight necessary for a bulls-eye shot. But, hey, at five yards I ought to be hitting close to the bulls-eye. Everything about the gun (otherwise) is an absolute joy. I'm amazed at how much fun I have shooting it.

Now, the 10 shot magazine of the Vigilante makes me feel guilty or wasteful compared to the six shooter. BTW, the Vigilante way outperforms my Beeman P17, too: not in accuracy but in the authority of the shot. IMO.

I shot three pellets this morning--H&N Excite 7.87 Hammers, 7.1 Hollow Points, and Crosman Premium 7.4 Destroyers. The Colt loved the 7.87 Hammers, as did the Vigilante. The Colt shot the H&N Ecite 7.1 HPs a little hotter and it liked the Destroyers, as well. I never loaded the H&N Excite HPs in the Vigilante, since it loved the other two so much. I think that the Hammers (a little cheaper) may be a better pellet than the 7.9 CPHPs, whose price is now fluctuating at my local Academy.  The Excite 7.1 HPs are a tad more pricey than either of the others, anyway.

Somebody has way to much time on their hands. Here is one for ya Frank, put an RC motor on it and target switch so every time you hit the target switch the cart moves a little or have it timed to move for few seconds. Basically every time you shot it, it would move and you would have a different angle or distance to shoot at.

Sighted in my R7 with irons at 27 yards! 

Sighted in Gipper's HW50 .177 using my old Elephant Scope at 27 yards! (it's a Burris Fixed 2.5X WIDE FIELD).  I put a shim under the rear ring and was able to use the centered optics of the Burris to be within an inch at 27 yards first shot!  I knew Gipper's gun had a shim for the UTG and I kept that thought in mind when putting on my centered 2.5X.   This former fix was NOTED by me telling me that any scope would need a shim to minimize losing the optical center. 

Now you might think 2.5X is pretty low power but if the optics are clear then definition is higher.  Burris optics are also on my monicker rifle, the FWB, and only THAT scope fits the FWB perfectly low.

And, I had a late in day shooting session, working with my Crosman Venom .177. The trigger remains a pain. After I get back from traveling these next two weeks, I've got to order a better trigger. But, overall, I had a good, no great, shooting session, hitting withing 3/4 inch circles very consistently (after a rocky start). I shot my H&N FTT 8.64 and some H&N 8.18 WCs. The Venom loves the 8.64.

Oh, and I had chance to shoot a tree rat who came to visit my practice session. Darn-dess thing ever, with me making all my racket while shooting for a squirrel to come near (about a 15 yd shot). My neighbor's cat was quick to pounce on the fallen!

Great single day of vacation....

Had new softliner put in my upper denture plate on Friday. This morning they started to let loose. Took half day vaca and went to get them fixed. I was out of there by 1:45 and planned on spending the afternoon in my shop.... wrong !  Work called... emergency... so, now I'm back at work... on my time.

I shoot targets in my yard out to +100 yards of I want but most is 50 and under.  My guns are all power plants but mostly in shooting pcp and springers. I have 3 pcp guns and the next one I keep telling myself "no" to is another pcp. That's why I should just save my dollars and get a compressor BUT, I have enough for another gun AND I already have a pump that works just fine.

I was out of there by 1:45 and planned on spending the afternoon in my shop.... wrong !  Work called... emergency... so, now I'm back at work... on my time.

Well you ain't the only one with fang problems and having to come back to work on your day off. Going through it this week, start with having to come back on over the weekend, today the fillings started falling out so now I have to be careful I don't break teeth before next Monday. On top of that, watching the disturbance in the gulf now. My little black cloud has struck again. No, I have not had a vacation either, red alert!   As for air gun related, in the process of obtaining more debris removal equipment so I can get my rifle ranges opened back up so I can take a break from the real world for minute. I really miss my guns lately.

Kris, you deserve a good long break for this craziness.    Maybe you can leverage that removal equipment into a side-gig and start farming it out?  Given the crazy weather....  Speaking of which, I've been keeping my eyes on the disturbances as well- I'm going to a big tradeshow (GFX) for work in the Big Easy in a couple weeks, and I'd rather it not literally rain on my parade.  Uggh, I've spent more time sleeping in hotels beds these last 2 months than my own. 

I feel very lucky when my last filling broke, the dentist I hooked up was able to make magic out of epoxy.  Over 80% of the tooth was gone above the gumline and now I have a legit chomper.  His crew did a fantastic job finding loopholes in my sorry-arse dental coverage at that time so out-of-pocket was effectively nil.  Since then I jumped on the bling plan for teef.  Dude also drilled out most of my other existing amalgamate mercury-based disasters fillings and re-did with UV-cure epoxy.  Side benefit was a big reduction in allergies thanks to the big drop in mercury in my mouth.

My contribution to airgunning today was mostly attending to the GTA.  I did send a single pellet in quarter-inch bore to verify consistent accuracy in my Turkish gas-spring behemoth.

As much as I would like to, it would be a pain financially and really don't want the destruction of equipment either, I deal with enough of it on the job. Some folks just can not operate heavy equipment at all. I will have to wait later in the year to take a big break from it all. Never been a big fan of summer vacation because everybody else doing it at the same time. I wait until summer is over and the vacation mob fall back into work and school routine. I'll get through it, I always do.
