ATTENTION!!!

By the decision of WFTF: 25.08.2018 PCP will commence according to schedule. The PCP shooters will start from the lanes that they have finished shooting on 24.08.2018. What is more, opposing to the organisers (PFTA), the last day of Springers competition has been cancelled. For springer shoot-offs Heli Jalakas, Regina Burvienė, Jan Henrik Homann and Matt Brackett please report to zero range in competition area at 11:30 o’clock.

Bad news good news,

Bad news I don't get to shoot tomorrow, good news I get a tenth place medal!

Woohoo!!!!!

I think you should PROTEST and get in the fight to better your finish position !!
But then again could go the other way  :P

Good job my friend !!
10th at a Worlds is no slouch !!

Average scores were a little higher on the Blue course. Neither you (10th) or Ferenc Toth (2nd) shot that course. Statistically, you and Ferenc would have moved up a position had all three courses been shot.

They said that they would check any protested targets after the match and throw out any defective ones ("cancel them for whole competition"). That would mean that your score is not yet finalized.

Well hopefully with a few shots as a buffer it should help me out.

I was looking forward to shooting a complete 150 shot world's but due to weather and time it isn't going to happen. Average score on blue is certainly higher than the other two. It would have been nice to shoot it, I was really hoping to hit more targets percentage wise, but I'm happy in the spot where I am.

It's not over until everything is final, but 10th would be nice.

I'm starting to see the results being posted by the Hosts:
http://www.wftc2018.com/index.php/results

I think we need to up the difficulty (not you .22Jim!) at our local matches.  Dave C. had a great idea, to start shooting local matches with one shot per target. Same number of total physical targets, go through the course twice.

I have thought about thisas well, a good way to make the second round slightly more difficult is to push the firing line back a yard or two. Different yardage on each target will be great to make it a little more challenging.

Ray Apelles had a great first day. Matt Brackett had a great second day. You, Ray, and Matt all shot well for Team USA.

Looks like nobody gained any shots via protest to take my position. So I'm in tenth, and luckily we had a pretty consistent day the second day as well.

USA Piston Team coming home with a first place!

USA Piston Team coming home with a first place!

Congratulations, what an incredible accomplishment, 10th in the World! That's almost as good as beating Uncle Bob in one of our matches ;D
Team USA first in the world as a piston team, that is even more amazing. Great shooting by Ray, Matt and yourself. That medal will be something you can be proud of the rest of your life! Have a safe and uneventful trip home.

After 2 days, the event is over for piston shooters. I see on the results page they did not all shoot the same 2 courses. I assume rain is the cause of canceling day 3 for them.
Congratulations to all the piston shooters . Ya did great!

30+ protest / cold lane calls on day 1 really screwed up them getting 325 shooters to finish 3 courses over 3 days  :'( :'(

Repost of my post on another forum:

----------------------------------------------
Storms are beyond control. But – I followed the reports and this is what I came out of it with: The 1st day delays that initially threw everything off was caused by the snowball of overzealous target protestors (I've seen that before). The results of the delays from the 1st round of PCP shooters was that Springer shooters did not complete their first course until day 2. Then they shot their second course. That delayed the start of the PCP shooters who could not finish before the storms came.

Before day 2, the organization decided that they would not address any further protests during the match. They announced that all targets would be checked at the end of competition and thrown out if defective.

No targets were thrown out, so apparently, all targets worked fine. Lucky that none were thrown out because throwing out targets after scores are turned in is the worst possible solution.

All that the 1st day protests did was add delays and did nothing for the game. If it were up to me, there would be no target protests.

Or, maybe a bad protest should result in losing the next point. That would eliminate the strategic protests as there would be no advantage protesting targets unless half the targets were actually bad.

----------------------------------------------------

A no-protest rule at the beginning would have made for a better match and likely all three days of competition.

I'll have to get pictures of the piston shooters from Tyler, Riz or Lauren.

Lots of fun last night, very proud to be a part of the piston team this year. It was unfortunate to not shoot all three courses. With people over protesting targets the first day I waited a total of 7 hours to shoot. I was dehydrated because there was no water on the sight in range, and tired from Jet lag and being there waiting for so long.

My partner Ischvan and I met up at lane 16 Black course and started a long evening of shooting. We quickly caught up to the shooters two lanes ahead of us due to the fact that he was young and able like me to complete a lane in just slightly over 2 minutes. No jacket, no fancy glove but he did shoot a HW97 with beautiful Ukrainian Walnut with a beautiful butthook/ shoulder hook assembly. If I had known cell phone cameras weren't allowed on the course I would have brought my old digital one.

I'm sure there will be more posts soon, Riz, Tyler and I are heading to the airport soon to catch a ride to the USA, home of the 2018 World Piston Champions!

After looking at some of the rifles in the competition, people must have thought you were shooting a stone axe! Sometimes physical skill trumps all the fancy gear in the world. A good lesson for all of us, rather than buying some new gizmo, spend the money on pellets and practice :o
