When they say use dry graphite powder to lube is that just the same stuff that is used on door locks or is there a special kind of dry graphite lube for gun actions?

Yes. You need to re-graphite it once in a while too. I do my Flex after about 50 rounds. Takes just a "tetch" as they say down here in Texas! Just don't use the solvent mixture kindójust plain  old powdered graphite.

Why use graphite?  PTFE (Teflon) powder has a much better friction coefficient, and at airgun temperature PTFE is stable (<200C).

Also Graphite gets its lubricity from lattice crystalline structure (needs thicker layer) compared to PTFE which is not latticed hence more efficient.

My recommendation would be to strip and clean the hammer assembly, use Dupont teflon-resin spray to bind Teflon to metal surfaces, and brush in some extra PTFE powder when reassembling.  That should give highest possible performance if you are looking for the that last ounce of juice.

Thanks Rob

Espeon, I'm not using anything on the hammer.  It (MDS hammer) runs slicker than snot and very consistent as it is ;)  Just for the bolt action.

One thing you can use even with the plastic hammer is DanZac. It is tungsten disulfide and is one of the slickest lubes around. It is messy, but works very well. Look it up on ebay using Pinewood Derby lube.
