Where to buy a new barrel?

Decided to get a 18"-24" Crosman barrel in .177 from one of the vendors instead of ordering it from Crosman. I'm hoping for a good crown and leade w/o rolling the dice. Any suggestions?

I'm leaning that way (Mellon), mainly because I use his RPA and extended bolt and like them both.

I got this 14 inch .22 barrel in the mail today from Charles.  Put it on walked out back with crosman premier dome and it is making ragged holes at 10 yards.  More testing tomorrow hopefully.

Hard to beat a Challenger (LW) barrel if you can swing the bucks.

P/N CH2009-014, .177 cal, 21 5/8" long, $93 from Crosman.

Drop into the steel breech.

I have one on this gun along with a 1701 trigger.
Very accurate and quiet.
35 yard pest bird and squirrel shots, no problem.

A LW barrel is tempting, and I like them enough to have 4 in service atm (all bought used ), but for this particular build (offhand plinker w/open sights) I would be wasting the potential of the barrel. That said, I will make a note of that for future reference.

For a plinker the Mellon barrel is your best bet at $30.
Keep in mind they are cut and crowned stock Crosman barrels so it's still a  gamble.

The "G2" (grenade and gauge) gun has a slightly modified ATI cheek riser.
Perfect height for a skeleton stock and scope.

The pump arm I made from wood and painted with TBL.

The bolt is threaded to take schrader valve caps.
Dice, 8 balls, skulls, grenades etc. are as close as the nearest parking lot. (just kidding)

Also has BKL scope mounts, triple on he rear and double up front.

The LW barrels from Crosman are usually very good, not just in how well they group with their absolute favorite pellet but also a tendency to not be very pellet picky, which is a general advantage of having a choke.  And they are fairly inexpensive to buy from Crosman so that makes them a good value.  However there are no guarantees, sometimes you can get a lemon from LW.  For example the 14” .177 LW barrel I received on a 2400KT is both less accurate and more pellet picky than my two Crosman barrels.  Granted, the Crosman barrels needed their leades and crowns dressed to reach that level of performance but it sounds like that's what you would be getting from Mellon Air.  The price is very attractive.  Honestly it's hard for me to accept that it's worth his time to do it so inexpensively.

I only had one LW barrel with an issue.
Damage in this case probably happened after the barrel left the LW factory.
I bought this LW barrel from a reputable vender on Ebay.
It had a ding on the crown but rather than return it I was able to touch it up on the lathe.
This barrel is very tight especially at the choke end.

Yeah that’s a good point about possible damage.  However in my particular case, there are no defects that I can detect.  I’m not an expert by any means but I do have a fair amount of experience massaging goodness from otherwise cantankerous barrels with defects in the crown, rifling, leade, or barrel port (methods described in the article linked in my signature).  So although nothing came to light during the initial inspection, I decided to go ahead and give it a full manicure and pedicure and it neither improved nor became worse.  At that point I decided it was fair to characterize it as a lemon.  Again, I don’t think my experience is typical in the slightest, just wanted to point out that a premium brand at a premium price doesn’t always equal a premium performer.

Yeah, but at least it'll LOOK cool! haha FWIW, I noticed when I went to Mac1 that they seem to only show .22 barrels. Or else I missed the .177s.

I totally missed that it was a pumper- saw the gauge and thought it was some sort of hybrid HPA deal!

Went to look at a few sites to compare prices on the SKS riser, and everyone but ATI (the link you provided) was showing out of stock and discontinued by manufacturer, etc. Weird- no way would they quit making it, it's a very popular item. Maybe they're coming out w/a "new and improved" model? Anyway, ATI still has them, the shipping was $4.99 and the riser was discounted so I got a couple for under $20, shipped- one for my 2400 and one for the stock that's on its way to me from Crosman as I type this.

Kind of OT, but I ordered quite a few parts from Crosman this time around- like 30 different items (no barrels or breeches) and the shipping was still just $4.00. Good deal if you ask me...

I really like the tire valve stem cap idea. Opens up a ton of cool bolt knob options!

Stuff happens and bad things can happen to otherwise good barrels.
Might have been a Monday or Friday barrel. LOL
If it were mine I'd recrown it and cut the leade end off and machine a new leade and port.
That would just leave the rifling as the cause and there's not much that can be done with that.

One item on my barrel bucket list is to try a barrel from a break barrel on a pumper, aka Bull barrel.
They are .585" diameter so about .060" will need to be milled from the bottom or use a riser.
I have a few and they look like they have promise and are just as cheap as the 7/16" barrels.
I bought one from Crosman for $15 in 2013.
Just have to remove the block and do some machine work.

A heavier barrel would definitely help the balance of my 2400. It's 18" and very muzzle light. Right now I have a Daisy 953 barrel weight/FO front sight on it so that helps a lot.

I have the cheek risers on two of my guns and really like them.
I ordered 3 of the risers two weeks ago at 20% off. Great price plus reasonable shipping.
Just had to grind a notch in the front and back as seen above and trim the bolt.
They had a 30% sale for Mothers day and may have another sale for this weekend.

I'm surprised the Ebay sellers haven't offered the valve cap bolts.
Maybe they'll see this and charge like $30 similar to the other over priced offerings.
I wonder how some of them sleep at night.

A heavier barrel would definitely help the balance of my 2400. It's 18" and very muzzle light. Right now I have a Daisy 953 barrel weight/FO front sight on it so that helps a lot.

I like my guns to balance right around the trigger so I can use the scope as a carry handle.
The thicker barrel can also be fluted etc.

No, unfortunately. The barrels are for CO2 and pumpers often referred to as 22xx and 13xx respectively. The xx is for the different model numbers. These barrels are also 7/16" OD- thin for a break barrel gun.
