Very nice looking hammer, spring and guide!  I can't see any venting on the face, but could be just the image.  I do like a well vented hammer for consistency and have drilled a number of holes in the face of my MDS hammers, which made a difference.  I have the older style MDS hammers without the cut grooves.  I have had issues with the hammers binding up, and have sanded them down to compensate.  I have found though that my main issue with the MDS hammers to be when overtightening the hammer lug.  They distort when doing so which causes binding issues.

So.... what about the newer steel hammers and the light weight tubes from JSAR? I understand that an MDS type hammer is required to avoid scarring to the tube.

I believe the new hammers are just for the WAR Flex and Warp.

I haven't seen the need to vent the hammer since there is an opening below the valve, through the reservoir tube, and through the trigger mount.  Although I'm no opposed to trying it, I don't think there will be any benefit.

I will be making these for the Marauder as well, as time allows.

All the best,
Jim

Has this issue been observed with Marauder mds hammers binding ?
can the hammer be sanded just slightly to reduce chances of binding on expansion ?
Mine does not have any sear issues but I have seen variations in fps on a regulated gun.

I have been using the MDS hammer in my Marauder for 6 months, and have had no issues.

If you overtighten the hammer lug screw, it will deform the hammer and cause those binding and intermittent issues.  Been there and done that.  No issues since discovering this and posting about it many moons ago.

The Lightning Hammers have been flying off the shelf and I really like them in the new guns I'm building.  One other nice thing about them is the ability to add weight to the hammer for higher power shooting, especially with the Cothran Powerhouse valve.

No additional weight is necessary for the Cobra valve.  Just when pushing the .308 and .357 with heavy slugs.  This is done here at the shop for those builds, but can be added to any Lightning Hammer in the field as well. The Cothran valve benefits from the added momentum to help it dwell longer when filling the long, large bore barrels.

I'm very pleased with my Lightning hammer. Since I switched to it, my gun has been super consistent. No more drops in velocities after a shooting session in the heat.

Are you sure it's the MDS hammer expanding,  or the steel tube shrinking in the cold?
