Does anyone that owns of these jumpy little things know how the get them too shoot half way decent? I've had mine for a little while and I've tried many a pellet, many an optic, and many a hold. And I can't get groups under 3 inches at 10 yards or so.

its not something people have shown much interest in... its a shame because breakbarrel pistols would make great stealth pesters/hunters... i have been on the fence on those because that whole open sights not allowing to shoot low enough,and because most chrony results show low to high 4s which are easily bested by crosman pumper standard, the good ole 1377. In fact, it will take only about 7 pumps to make more power, which makes it quieter and easier to shoot than the trail... I saw the new one now has that weird triangular muzzle brake a la trail SBD... dont know if its functional or not. Crosman does not seem to interested in listening to criticism, as the sights look the same... it would be nice for it to be made in .22 with a little more powerful ram, lower sights and a nice rear sight... something more like the hatsan or browning, which are still better options, even at 2x the price.

As per how to shoot them accurately. all break barrel pistols are very difficult to master, but once you figure the right hold  they can be quite accurate.

detuning to 350 fps and honing the trigger to butter smooth is the only combo likely to change the accuracy dramatically.

if you are going to shoot that low you are almost better off buying the browning buckmark wannabe. they are accurate and have ok triggers. they just shoot too weak for any pesting work. or better yet, buy a p17.

and that's pretty much why the gas rammed benji never took off, there are too many better options for accuracy , pesting , or whatever.  a 2240 is the same  price and beats the NP pistol at everything

+1. i have a 2240 changed to a .177 with a 1377 left over barrel, metal breach and lots of love that will do 3/4 inch groups at 15 yards all day long. 540 fps with crosman 7.9 gr. get 52 shots per fill. but i do wish they made a better BB pistol... a cheaper RWS P5.

+1. i have a 2240 changed to a .177 with a 1377 left over barrel, metal breach and lots of love that will do 3/4 inch groups at 15 yards all day long. 540 fps with crosman 7.9 gr. get 52 shots per fill. but i do wish they made a better BB pistol... a cheaper RWS P5.

a sidelever SSP pistol by crosman would be ideal.. a thumper 22 version of the p17/717

I have the NP Pistol and personally I think it shoots great.
I keep reading all of the negitive reviews and personally I just don’t get it.
I get great groupings at 20 yards all day long.
Keep working with the rear site setting and get it dialed in better.
I’m just saying.

The NP Trail has had a lot of issues, lock up, barrel droop, pellet picky, and so on. Some folks have had good luck with them others haven't and the complaints have fallen on deaf ears. It is a nice gun but will not make it with the tried and true pistols that are out there. Changing the cosmetics doesn't solve the problem. I can chase cans with mine but I will not hunt with it. It's more of a novelty plinker. The 1377 has been my go to hunter/plinker for over 30 years. You can't beat versatility that this pistol is capable of.

All three of my Benjamin Trail NP Pistols (out-of-the-box) were accurate with their FO sights to .5" @ 10yds, and .25" with a red dot reflex scope installed. The reason for "3", well you can review my thread sequences HERE !

To obtain it's best accuracy, I felt that reducing the pre-travel and pull of the trigger was a top goal. My current Trail NP received a custom trigger modification (by me), all documented in the above thread. Due to lack of pics and directions, the trigger mods were challenging, but doable (really a tinkerer and DIY at heart)!

Now, I really like the feel, smoothness and performance of my Trail NP. It hits hard and is very accurate!

I’m confused about some of the replies I see about the POI being low and having the rear sight bottomed out. If that’s the case you are adjusting the rear sight in the wrong direction. To raise the POI you RAISE the rear sight, you don’t lower it.

Don’t understand any of the negative reviews on these Airguns.

Both of my Benjamin Trail NP2 SBD’s are extremely accurate once I zeroed in the scopes.

Same goes for my NP Pistol.

The NP Pistol with the red dot is priceless.

I got the best results with mine using a UTG red dot sight on a BKL mount. I don't shoot it anymore but it sure looks cool lol.

Buddy and I both got one for shooting at mice. It is good for shooting cans, mice, not so much.

I agree with red dot sight. Never could hit anything with the pistol’s sights.  Put the red dot on it and started getting nice little quarter-size groups at 10-15 yards.

I ended up with 2 of these pistols one I bought the other given to me for shipping from a member here in both case's  i  had to bump up the detent spring on the barrel lock, tigbten all screws and do a thorough trigger job,
  Sear engagement shortened and all contact points polished only after this will you see accuracy improve next is a red dot or laser as finding a reasonable priced pistol scope didn't exist for me. Barrel breakin is also a big step forward for me it was 5-700 rounds so dont go buying 4, 5, 8 different kinds of pellets just yet  when you do try beeman hp, gamo tomahawk crosman 10.5 pirahnas and 7, 8.2gr RWS Miesterkrugeln another big issue in my guns is barrel fouling 25-30 shots max or lapp your barrel. I really enjoy my 2 guns but the 2240 will put these to shame.

Complete take down...a little tricky! Although I completely disassembled trigger components for modding, feel I could have achieved 95% of my trigger goals (reduce pre-travel and lighten pull) "without" a complete disassembly and polishing contact points. Just a little spring stretching, sear\hammer contact lubing and installing a longer trigger screw should be a big improvement! See my post HERE !

These trigger assemblies are not the easiest to put back together one thing that will make it easier is to make a dummy pivot pinthat will fit inside trigger housing during reassemblythere are a couple parts that require  pinning together before placing back in housing. When the parts are lined up you will push dummy pin out with the real pin. Find a nail that is the right diameter for this and cut it just short enough to go inside.
