Fixing up a model 180 for a friend, and looking at Crosman breech straddling mounts ... I called Crosman and they could not answer .. (too old a model) ...
B272 or 459MTC ... Do either of these work for that rifle? Is there any breech straddler that will work?
Any help,
Thanks,
TJ

TJ, try contacting Mac-1, or Baker airguns. Both deal with older Crosman/Benjamin. Good luck.

the CR180's barrel is 9/16, the original crosman vintage mount is part# is M-156, it used to be sold separately but very difficult to find now, mostly you'll find it in vintage scope/mount-kit model 410 on ebay, this original mount is designed for 3/4 tube scopes, the 459MTC is also recommended, I believe some 180 owners here use it, also the air venturi picatinny adapter for 39xx benjamin/sheridan works on the 180, it has been recommended to me here but I'm yet to order one to try it.
Here is an old thread about the CR160 and Ron Robinson mounts that also works on the CR180 but impossible to find now --unless you find it in a classified sale--since the company mentioned sold out and they are not getting any more stock....
Tip: if you pick up any of the metal to metal adapters you shoud line the inside of the adapter with non-slip material to prevent side shifting/slipage, a big problem for me, I was recommended electrical tape as a quick fix.

I prefer the 459MTC over the B272 ...seems to hold better...mac 1 has a good mount but the 459 appears to be more period correct if that matters....good luck

Thank you all for your help!
I have ordered the 459MTC, I will adapt those to work. I think that will be the better fit.
Cheers,
TJ
