that was taken about 12 years ago,

was at a 3d archery shoot and heard it calling for mama up on a hill,

proceeded to watch it roll down a hill and hobble across the trail we were on,
so i decided to creep up near it and take that pic.

to this day its one of my favorites ive ever taken

Don't think I posted this here... My then 2 year old Grand Daughter and her "Best Bud" after the ball went behind the couch... they just knew it was gone forever.

The fawns above made me think of my close encounter with an elk fawn. In 2016, I was out in Arizona working on a camp facility and got up early one morning for a hike to the top of a hill on the property. I got to the top just as the sunlight fell on it and it was taking pictures of things on the hilltop when I came upon this little guy.

I leaned a little closer for this picture and then cleared out. I soon figured out that his mom was on the next hill from me, calling to the youngster. She was too far for a decent picture, but she's below too.

The point of the hike was to check out the fire damage from the previous year or so before--almost burned the facility, but people were praying and that fire went around most of the facility. The only thing that burned was an old cabin they had wanted to re-purpose. Actually, it was a pretty nice little cabin, but it wasn't in a good spot on the property and would have needed some work. In the end they got insurance money to put to a better use. I'm not a great photographer, nor is my camera very good, but I tried, taking a bunch of shots of dead trees and such. In the picture below, I liked the dead tree against the early morning blue sky.

But speaking of perspective...I like this picture of our cat looking down at me from on top of a file cabinet we had in the carport. The cabinet wasn't very tall--I was just kneeling on the concrete in below him.

He's a nice one that showed up almost 10 years ago now. The vet recently explained that Boots was "too stout" to get at a spot at the base of his tail that was giving him some trouble these days, but he has always weighed in at about 17-1/2 pounds for as long as we've been keeping track. Though, come to think of it, he did seem a little less barrel-chested when I took the other pictures below. He's pretty chill about being handled; they love him at the vet though he whines the whole time to go home. He's getting on the old side now, but he would always kick the neighbor's cat butt for showing up in our yard. That cat, Fred, would never learn either...

He has a buddy, Swirly, now that also found us. That one has marvelous jowls and a funny bunch of hair going the wrong way on his nose. We think it was a gash from a fight that healed funny. Looks like a mohawk hair cut. That one too is about 12 or 14 pounds, but he was ridiculously skinny when he arrived. His head (with the big jowls) looked so out of place on a skinny cat. He kicks Fred's butt too. He'd like to be boss but Boots just has to look at him funny and Swirly jumps away.

Boots is almost the size of a "Maine Coon" Cat!!!

Ever seen a cat smile?
Here is our "Missy" ( short for "Misdemeanor" or "Miss Demeanour" )
She squinches like that when you say "Missy, are you Purdy"

I like Boots even better now after hearing his war stories. My cat was the same way. King of the block who once ran 8 cats away from their food bowl next door despite just being fed in my house! Was like a dog since he always wanted to be on my lap and would whine sounding completely undone whenever I left the house. Had to put him down a couple years back when his health failed at 16yrs. Miss him daily.

Never seen a cat smile like "misbehaving" is there Scott. That's neat. Good looking cat. Mine was black too.
