.30 cal Heavy Pellet from NOE - With Test Results
« on: December 29, 2017, 12:07:46 AM »
NOE has decided to take my revised pellet design to Group Buy in .30 cal.... http://noebulletmolds.com/smf/index.php/topic,2360.0.html

It will be available only in their "RG" base pin system, and 3 sets of pins of different depths will be supplied.... allowing you to cast 3 different weights, of 59, 62 and 66 gr. (shown).... The moulds are a nose pour design.... Please note that the skirt is 0.308", but the head is 0.300", just like JSBs.... The length will fit in the AirGunLab modified MRod magazines, and Flex mags....

2 and 4 cavity moulds will be available, in brass or aluminum.... Those signing up will get a 15% discount upon production.... 10 orders are required before the tooling will be made....

I'm in for a 2 cavity...I think. I've never cast before and have been contemplating the .30 bbt RG 2, I even have a WTB add in the classified section, but think this may be a better option.

Will these need to be sized like slugs?
What else will I need besides a lead pot, ladle and handles?
Is there anything else I should know before I commit to the group buy?

No sizing should be required.... they should be as consistent as swaged pellets, if you do your part casting.... Just like all Diabolo pellets, the nose is designed to barely engrave in the rifling, and the skirt is a bit oversize to crush down for a tight seal.... Diameters were taken from the JSB .30 cals.... Use a pure lead, or not more than 40:1 (2.5% tin).... you want the pellets soft....

Thanks Bob! I guessed no sizing, that why I went with the 4 cavity. I saved money not needing sizing dies or a press.
