Benjamin Trail XL 1100 vs NP2

Hey guys,

I’ve been doing some searching and can’t quite find an answer to this question. I’m in the market for another .22.

I’ve heard the XL has a larger piston, but the .22 version of both the XL and NP2 are advertised at 1100 FPS (understand that these numbers are not real...but it implies they both put out the same amount of power). The XL states 46lbs if cocking effort and the NP2 was significantly lighter. I would think the XL would put out more power?

I remember getting low 900s with my NPXL1100 using CPHP (normal weight pellets). I'm also interested in the differences. And any similarly powered rifles.

Don't put too much thought into power. Accuracy is more important.

K...I have both but I don't own a chronograph.  Using the same pellets and shooting both guns side by side at a heavy duty 3/8 in 44 Magnum PB metal spinner, I can say that the 1100 has, by far, the most power.  The 1100 will deflect the 3/8 metal spinner much more. The 1100 is harder to learn to shoot and cocks harder. My 1100 weighs around 12lbs with a scope on it.  My Crosman Summit Ranger NP2 weighs around 7 1/2lbs with a scope on it.  The NP2 Ranger was a good shooter right out of the box and required no modifications to be highly accurate.  The 1100 has a Devastating hit on wild game.  The 1100 looks nicer with a wood stock.  The NP2 Crosman Summit Ranger is not hard on scopes and the 1100 is.  The 1100 will shoot right through a 3/8 piece of plywood set out at 75yds and the NP2 Ranger won't. The NP@ Ranger has plenty of power but it is not an 1100.   I really like Both Guns a Lot and both are Very Good Guns.  Most people wind up doing something with the stock trigger on an 1100.

Excellent info thank you! I was originally tossing around the idea of getting the .25 XL since Wally World has them for $191, but I also like the idea of having another hard hitting .22 and being able to get pellets pretty much anywhere.

I also have a Benjamin NP XL 1100 in .22 cal that gets 770fps w/18.13 gr JSB's & 880fps w/CPHP's.  With the .25 cal barrel on it I get 770fps w/19.91gr JSB and 678fps w/25.24gr JSB.

The Benjamin isn't quite as accurate as the 34 but it sure knocks the rabbits down quicker. By the way, the Ben. is for sale here on GTA.

Yes.  You would have to check with Nod and see what he is doing.  I've been thinking of getting the 25cal barrel for my gun too. It is Way Cheaper that buying a whole complete other gun.             Best Wishes - Tom
