was anyone aware that the face of the manometer will glow in the dark ??

i received my Sentry Deluxe 705 (5) days ago. it's been sitting in the corner from the time i unboxed it. i just checked, and i have lost approximately 200 psi . . . but when i checked it, i used my flashlight . . . and noticed the face had an unusual look to it. i turned the flashlight off, and the dial was illuminated. it was extremely clear for 25 minutes, and i could still see the needle after 40 minutes.

a very pleasant surprise - wonder what will be next ?

Chuck mine too also got a leak in it, that was a while back now and the leak was from debris that had come from the bleed block. Well I didn't even think about sending it in because of the fact that I had already modified the gun after I bought it and I fixed it about 3 weeks ago, it's been about a week ago since I last filled it and put it away, when I read your reply about yours leaking made me think about checking mine since the last time that I filled it and it's still right on full. I still had the o ring kit that it came with and I didn't have to replace any of the original o rings in it so that was good, when I had it apart I cleaned everything thoroughly after the debris from the bleed block appeared, reassembled it and used it pretty much all the time up until I got my Avenger. Evidently when the factory made the last changes to these guns they had neglected to get the bleed block clean internally which cause that debris to collect around the o rings on it causing the leak. I should give Mike a call about it to let him know what happened to mine just to give him the heads up on it. The good news is that none of that debris had migrated into the valve itself, I also burnished the valve seat with fine steel wool when I had it apart just for good measure before reassembling it. I figured it would be a good Idea since I didn't do that after modifying it. I'll be out with my 705-9K in the morning tomorrow for some hunting and plinking at the woods.

it's gonna be a while before i can do anything with my Sentry . . . i start working tomorrow from 6pm-6am for at least a week . . . been on 12 hour shifts for the best part of 3 months now . . . BUT . . . the company is being very nice to us - only 8 hours on Sundays . . .

looking forward to the video of your outing, especially the music. you label it as "Reuben's Train" - i've known it as "Lonesome Reuben" as played by Earl Scruggs . . . but, by either name, it's a great song. hope you do well.

Chuck I worked at a paper mill in shipping receiving for about 6 months once, that swing shift they had there was always a hard one to get use too, it was really good money though. The paper mills that were around here are history now. There is a couple still going in SW Mi but not near me. The gun in my signature is shooting my NOE BBT's in 27.5grain awesome and of course that's what I'll be using in it in the morning

yeah - i kinda like the job, but the hours are a killer (my normal schedule is 2pm-10pm) but i usually have to stay 'till 2am. gotta keep those machines running . . .

when things settle a bit for me, i plan on gathering more info from you on cleaning the Sentry, mods i can do to it, and making my own slugs . . . i've been keeping up on your mod and slug posts as best as i can.

I took the side plate off my sentry today to mess with the trigger and the sear and spring popped out and I cant figure out how to get it back in LOL. So simple but nothing makes since but also maybe the spring is bent?

I purchased a Sentry 705-9K for a friend who is fed up with his gas ram gun. I wanted it to shoot cheap Crosman 14.3’s and have a high shot count because I will be refilling it for him when it needs air. The first order after receiving the gun was the trigger. It had the longest second stage I ever felt. It was a little time consuming but I got it perfect. I just set the trigger to where it was good without the safety in it. Then took it apart and filed down the rear tab to just clear the trigger. Now the trigger is very nice. A short first stage, then a very light crisp second stage break and the safety works. Definitely a balancing act. You absolutely cannot take too much off the back tab or the safety is useless. Got to know when to say when. Second issue was tuning for the 14.3’s. I had to make a smaller TP. The stock one was .128, I made a .108. Right now I fill to 2,800 and refill at 1,900psi. Getting 40 shots starting at 811fps up to 860 then back down to 811fps. Not sure if I can do better but got burnt out last night slinging lead and refilling the gun. If anyone has any suggestions I am open to them because it’s been quite a while since I played with a unregulated PCP. Oh, and cleaning the bore didn’t disappoint, it was the usual China nasty. Gun seems very accurate and a pleasure to shoot. I will be giving it to him on Saturday so I still have a couple days to mess with it if someone thinks I can get a better tune.

How do you adjust the power on the sentry? I know left is more power and right is less power but do you have to loosen the screw right above the power knob and will it turn by hand or do you have to use a screw driver? It doesn't explain any of that in the manual.

Also do you need high scope mount rings or will mediums do and will it accept weaver type rings?

I have the Sentry 703 first edition with square shroud, it only has 11mm scope rail, does have weaver accessory rail and bipod mounts.
As far as power adjustment just put a quarter in the plastic adjuster knob, turn clockwise to increase and counter to lower, mine has a numbered indicator with 5 being the high setting.

James it's the other way around you turn the adjuster counterclockwise to increase and clockwise to decrease the hammer tension.

Ok buddy I see that's cool

which gun did you get, did you get the .22 Sentry Deluxe, it's about my favorite of all my Sentry's I get a boat load of shots even since I opened up the valve, transfer port and breech port. There's no need to open the barrel ports unless you're going for super power, heck right now mine is in the 40+fpe range for a good long string.

I'm not sure if its deluxe or not lol but its the 705 .22. I should have ordered a scope and rings when I bought it but didn't think of it at the time lol. I also got the xisico hand pump which I have no idea on how to put together.

They didn't come with any directions and I've never worked with those parts before.

I'm looking forward to learning but just need some help getting started.
