I didn't have very favorable wind today but no rain so I went to test pellets (the four varieties I have so far) anyway. It absolutely disliked the first three I tried and I was beginning to wonder about this PCP stuff as my springer would do that good at 25 yards.  Then I loaded up the some of the HN Terminators 16.36 grn and it settled right down.  The trigger was good, the Element Helix scope was great, and I was able to squeak in a few descent groups between the wind gusts.  The other three were RWS Superdome 14.5, Crosman Premier 19 's, and Crossman Copper 14 grn copper.  I am happy the Terminators worked as well as they did as I think these might make good pest control pellets.  They were certainly minute of Rat.  I was running 2500 psi down to about 1300 and could not tell any accuracy issues other than the wind blowing these 1/2" to 3/4" real quick.

I think Mike at Flying Dragon Airguns set up this low power tune just right.

The terminators work well in my gun too. It also likes the H&N hunters and jsb 18.13

Nice shooting, Wes! I just finished a rubber mulch pellet trap, and I've gotten to put about 4 clips through mine. I'll post some pictures when I get a chance to really work it out. I'm pretty impressed with the number of shots I'm getting on the 4 power setting. 2850 PSI -> 2200 PSI after 3 clips/21 shots. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect with .25, but if I can get 6-8 clips within the main power band, I'll be pretty happy. I'm shooting H&N Field Target Trophy right now, and when I finish off this tin I'll try out my Griffin slugs and H&N hollow points.

Does anyone know how many CC's of air the 705's hold?  I can't seem to find that information on any of my paperwork or searches on line.  I got my new air tank filled today and I was trying to use the tank fill calculator but it needs the size of the air tank and the gun to figure number of fills.

Mike believes it's a 16 cubic inch tank which equates to 262 CC for calculations.  This means I will get about 33 with my air tank filled locally to 3442 PSI which is the max they will fill.  If filled to 4500 PSI I would get approximately 55 fills which equals an extra 1000 shots running from 2500 - 1300 at my current low power setting.

Started out:  3K psi fill, JSB 18.13 gr,  24 shots ending at 2200 psi, ( takes 70 strokes of my hand pump to refill it), power setting at 4, fps 912 to 829, Average of 861, SD 17.

Yes.  Not bad at all.  Best thing about this rifle is it doesn’t have to be filled to 3000 psi for max power. Mine really shines around 2650 down to 1700 or so and there are still a few shots before I get down to 1500.  VERY hand pump friendly rifle IMO. 
The difference in pumping those last 350 psi vs. those first 1000 is almost night and day.  It takes some weight on the pump to get those last few strokes in and it’s not bad, it’s just easier only pumping to 2700 or so.  The best thing to have is a chronograph (or a friend with a chronograph) so you can find out where your power curve is on the rifle.  You may find that at only 2400 psi you are getting velocities that suit your needs with enough shots in that range to work for you.  These rifles are very easy to tune and there’s a TON of info in this thread about that.

Got out back for some target practice at ~20 yards today. I just got a shipment of 33.5 gr NSA hollow point slugs in, so I was shooting with those. Scope needs just a little more tuning (got a cheap one and the adjustment indicators were backwards), and my shooting certainly needs work. Man am I out of practice. Everything above the 3 line in the target picture was out of the last clip I shot today. Pretty sure that spread is 95% user error. I don't have a chronograph, but Mike sent a slip of paper that says this gun does 750 fps with 33 gr JSB pellets (I'm assuming Diabolo heavies), so I'd imagine I'm in that neighborhood.

Side note: really liking the knockoff Atlas bipod. Hand pumping this gun is not bad at all. I think the others are right about not needing to hit 3k PSI. I've been pumping to 2500-2800 and still getting a respectable number of shots while set to 4+ power.

I am shocked at how much a group will open up with different pellets.  Are slugs going to exhibit the same characteristics when changing makes/weight as the pellets do.

Glad you got out to shoot, the weather has been terrible here. I have a few slugs I want to try in my .22 as soon as I get this low power tune and fill pressure worked out.

Good question, next session will probably be a comparison of the Griffin 23 gr slugs and NSA 33.5s.

My Sentry seems to have developed a substantial leak. I emailed Mike about it. Quick response time. Asked me to check the burst disc, which looked fine and I hand snugged it. He also asked me to listen at the muzzle, and I was able to hear air leaking out. Said it was likely the main valve was being held open by something. He said to use a non-flammable silicone oil in the fill probe, then fill the gun with air. It seemed to work initially, but now I'm back to losing 500 PSI every few hours. Can't hear air leaking through the muzzle any more, so I'm not sure what the deal is now.

Josh the fill port o ring is a common fault for leaks with these guns, I can't remember the exact size but I am pretty sure that I posted about it earlier in this thread.  I had emailed Mike and he told me the best o ring to use on them, I bought some from "The O Ring Store" and since replaced 2 on other ones since that are still holding air just fine.

 On my 702- I just replaced the male foster fill, with a better quality one, leak solved.

Thanks for the pointer, Wayne. I checked the fill port after the reservoir was empty, and the o ring appeared to be in good shape. Added a drop of oil and pumped it up again, and now I can hear air coming out of the muzzle and breech... I'll take a look at a schematic and email Mike again.

From what you said I'd have to say it's leaking around the poppet, must be debris or a bad poppet

Is this rifle regulated and moderated? Kinda interested in a .177 model. Not a lot of info on this online.....that I have found.

They aren't regulated but do get a good long string when tuned good and very modifiable for excellent power too.  All of mine are very accurate however I only have .22 & .25 myself.

I'm looking at a 705 in .25. After a lot of hemming and hawing, I think it's what I'll go with for my first PCP. Is the plus tune worth the cost? I'm looking at primarily varmint hunting, first squirrels on my property in CA, which will be anywhere from 5 to 25 yrds, but once we move to KY, I'm hoping to find at least 5-10 acres which will give me much more distance. Here in Cali I'm on half an acre, so regardless of the plus tune or not, I'll be running it on low power here.
