Replaced the 13ci bottle on the Gauntlet with a 23ci one

Can't really see clearly enough to know for sure.... but tanks are so over-engineered I can't imagine ever having a problem if you don't overfill it....

I installed the new tank over the weekend and shot the rifle with no problems or leaks, I left the reg stock I didn't put the thinnest belleville washer as a shim (maybe a bit of fear?? jejeje) So for the moment I'll leave it as it is and will order the jefferson state tuning kit, also buying a slidecheck to monitor the output pressure, can anyone recommend me one ?

I have 2, I purchased a Ninja Slide Check from Amazon and received it in 2 days.  It was about $15.00.  I ordered it because I was tired of waiting on the one I ordered from AliExpress that took over a month to arrive.  The AliExpress Slide Check was $10.00.  There was a big difference though, the AliExpress Slide Check was all metal, much heavier and felt way more durable.  The Ninja was aluminum and plastic.  Both work, I was just surprised at the better quality of the AliExpress Slide Check.

You can also purchase a Ninja Regulator and then swap tanks.  Ninja sells two different models, the ProV allows you to swivel the bonnet of the regulator to align the gauge and fill port.  They also make a smaller regulator, which is essentially the same os the one that came with the Gauntlet.  Both have the fill port positioned 180 degrees off from the gauge.  I have one of each, and both work great.  I paid $70 for the ProV before I discovered the other Ninja regulator, it was $45.

Yes, it had the spring, but I had a Chinese regulator that had the fill port and gauge at 90 degrees so I just used the belleville's from that regulator.  Zoro.com has the belleville's and shims pretty cheap. You will need the shims no matter which regulator you get so you can adjust the output.  If you've never purchased from Zoro before, you can get a 15% off code for your fist purchase.  They have a sampler pack of shims that gives you a variety of sizes.  Shipping is pretty reasonable also, and they let you know how much it is before you place you're order, unlike McMaster-Carr!

I am going to be asking you from now on !!!  We are following a similar path in what we are doing ...

I got a reg from China - ordered THE ONLY 180 degree one and still got a 90 degree! They refunded me. I have the reg. Got a 23 ci tank just sitting there.

How many bellevilles and how many shims did you use to get what psi out of your tank?

I am running 1330psi on the ninja bottle. I have considered taking that reg off, and putting it on the 23ci tank. I'll use the 13ci ninja tank for another project ....

I ordered the same Chinese regulator and ended up getting the 90 degree one also.  I was also given a full refund, so those belleville's went into the Ninja regulator. 

I will tell you that every regulator I have is set up a bit differently.  One has an additional belleville added the others have different combinations of shims.  All 3 are set to 1300 psi, but the number/size of the shims is different.  You really need to have a tester to know for sure.  Here a picture of my tester, all the parts are from AliExpress.

Thanks for the info Paul, I'll check it out. Although I am going cheap, I will use the original reg from the gun on the 23ci tank, because I am going to use the small tank on another project I am working on with the China regulator at 800psi. 1077 Regulated HPA Bullbup! <mad scientist laugh ....>

See pic of MY tester: LOL (I'm telling you ...) In staying true to cheap, I bypassed the slide check, and I just unscrew the gauge to bleed the tank!

My current shot count is about 140 before dropping from ~850 (JSB 15.89)!! I want to drop the reg down a little (just under 1300psi) and probably add JSA's High Travel Valve retainer, to end up with around 800fps for close to 200 shots. That might make me happy (for a couple of days) LOL

The only problem I am encountering, is accuracy! This is BORING. hole in hole in hole in hole ..... I set up a whole line of paintballs at 25 yards and pick them off one by one. So far, the only way I have managed to get interested, was to feed some 13gr Chinese cheap pellets through, and watch them scatter all over the place. My son in law and I make bets as where the next one will hit! 

CP domes, CPHPs, JSBs all go hole in hole. Different POI, but hole in hole.

I’m with you on the accuracy thing.  Mine’s stock so far but also accurate.  We shoot aspirin tablets at 20 yards indoor and there’s almost never a miss.  I really prefer longer range shooting but have to wait for better weather.  Clay pigeons at 100 yards is fun.

Archellas...Did you install the tune kit from JSAR?  That seems like a really good shot count and I understand about the boring accuracy thing inside of 25 yards.  Looks like I have a 23ci bottle in my future!

No, I did not .... I did discuss it with Travis, but I am still determined to just set the rifle to something I like and then leave it. I do not really want to make adjustments. I did, however, order the high travel valve retainer, the logic behind it is very sound!

Emptying a full tin of pellets with just one fill is enough to make anyone happpy!!!  😃
