Struggling between Bullboss in .22 or .25

Been looking at jumping into the PCP market with a Bullboss but am stuck between which caliber to order it in. either the .22 or the .25?

Main 2 uses would be 1, Dispatching our Champagne d’Argent meat rabbits which full grown are 9 to 12lbs but are culled before that and may be shortening the cycle further. 2nd use would be pest control consisting of chipmunks and the occasional weasel.

I would also like to take the Air Rifle to the range with me and shoot the 50 yard targets and 100 yard if it can do it.

My property is 1.6 acres with children on at least 2 sides of my property and the house is in the center so over shooting/over penetrating is my main concern with the .25.

I also need to stay quiet because the neighbors do talk. Had 3 roosters (wanted them to grow a bit more to suppliment our GSDs raw food diet) that decided to crow non stop one day and posts started popping up on facebook within the "neighborhood group" asking who had the rosters. They were taken care of immediately afterwards.

Any help would be most appreciated! Been planning on picking up a Marauder for probably 3 years before coming across Hatsan and their ingenious removable air chamber design as well as their accuracy.  Seeing the Bullboss go on sale for $449 was the last straw! LOL

Owner of a 25 cal Boss here..
I love the knock down power of it.
The 22 cal is nice and i'm thinking about going with the set up next myself.
My advice would be if you can..Maybe go with the wood stock version of either.
I ended up adding a rail closer to trigger for bipod to get things more solid. wiggled horribly with tall bipod. But it also turned out more comfortable to be able to grab up front too with bipod moved father back..plus balanced out nice.
I shoot mostly from 50 yards out using H&N Baracuda Hunter extremes.28.40 gr.. Serious knock down power.. My rifle loves them even more then the JSB's
Muskrats to pigeons to pies.... One shot is all it will take. Even if you miss on head, heart or lung .. It's down.

I agree with everything Ron posted. I don't think there will be a big difference in muzzle report between .22 and .25, and unless it is a rather large critter, there'll probably be pass-thru even with the .22. So, just need to be vigilante of your flight path. Since you want to go 100yd, the .25, with wood stock, would be the optimal choice. The heavier pellet will be less affected by wind, and the wooden stock will provide a much, much greater stability for a bipod, over the synthetic stock's bipod rail.

Problem is the lowest price Bullboss in wood is $622 vs the synthetic Bullboss being on sale for $449.99 with no option for wood from that store.
 
Oh and as far as being vigilante with pass through, I still treat my lower power .177s as if they are firearms and make sure if the pest climbs a free that I have the tree or thick branch behind it. I will walk around the tree to get a safe shot or wait till the chipmunk moves to a safer shooting location.

Then just go with the syn stock and use sandbags when you're shooting for distance

If noise is of utmost concern I would go with a .22 plenty of power for what you'd like and even though muzzle report might not be that different pellet impact is louder on .25s if that's of concern

Dairyboy, I sure noticed that when I upgraded from my old Crosman 357 to the Trail NP Pistol! That impact can echo on those silent zero wind days! Would be nice to hear the difference first hand but not going to happen before the sale ends.

The impact though I feel I should be able to get away with since one of my other hobbies is paintball and some of my markers are pretty quiet with the impact of the paint being louder.

Hate the trigger on the Trail, far too stiff of a pull!

One of my paper targeting system is a 5 gallon bucket, filled with rubber mulch. You barely hear anything even with .25.

Those .25 cal Baracuda pellets just make you smile... But on the other hand the .22 cal Bullboss is very versatile, shooting 21 gn Cuda, 25.4 gn JSB Monsters, and can even go to heavier pellets for more down range energy. I owned a Bullboss in .22 and really liked it. I also owned an MrodAir P12 at the same time and knew one of the guns I would keep and the other would be sold. Weight was the deciding factor and I sold the Bullboss, as the P12 was about three lbs lighter which fit my hunting style better.

On the other hand I also had an Airforce Condor in .25 cal that could easily hit 70 ft lbs with those .25 Cudas and really make you smile...

Before falling in love with a Bullpup I would make an effort to shoot one of two, they aren't for everyone,
Yes they look cool but if most of the shooting is done from a bench a rifle would be better IMO.

Nomadic Pirate,always wanted a bullpup due to their full length barrel but shorter distance between muzzle and trigger. Due to the main purchase as dispatching meat rabbits, I needed to minimize the length between the two. Would have rather ordered a nice .22 or .25 pistol but I only have the option of one PVP in our budget the next 3 years so this Bullboss fit all the criteria I needed.

Really hope I like it as much I'm thinking I will. Loved a Sayers Aug I shot 24 years ago other than it jamming a lot but only because the owner just had it cerakoted and was still breaking in due to the added thickness of the chericote in some areas. Well at least that was what he told me.

Not sure if you're aware, but I believe they include 3 mags.....at least it did with the Bullboss.

I kept seeing that it only came with 1 magazine. If it comes with extras I'm ok with that also! Just figure since everywhere else I checked wanted $15 each I would grab a few at under $10 ea.

The Bullboss came with 3 mags, a degassing tool, fill probe, a trigger adj hex wrench, and extra orings.

I took a few off-hand shots with my Bullboss, last night, in my 15ft indoor range......a single ragged hole! For the past month I've been shooting my new Benji Trail gas ram exclusively, and going from a beast trigger kicker gun to a nice trigger pcp is so night and day.

It would be very ironic if the more expensive Gladius, with mag storage, only came with 1 mag, while the Bullboss, with no mag storage, are supplied with 3 mags.
