Mrod 25 and noise suppressors
«
on:

Does anyone know where I can buy a noise suppressor that can be screwed onto the muzzle of an mrod .25 ?
I noticed that the muzzle of an mros .25 has a hard-plastic "crown" screwed on it when leaving the factory.
The only thing is that the threaded part is female and silencers usually come with female-threaded.

Okay Art,
What you are talking about can be referred to as many things but because of the illegality of the "s" word we choose to call them shrouds, lead dust collectors (ldc) or muzzle breaks. The word is not allowed because is garners unwanted attention. Period. So please refrain from using that term. Now for what you are looking for you may want to contact Mike at TKO. the website is TKO22.com or something like that just google tko muzzle breaks.

OK, thanks. I did the read the policies but must have missed that one.
To the Federal Govn't they are not illegal but they are regulated and taxed, like alcohol. They are not even as regulated as controlled substances.
Most states allow and cater to them.

Sorry arthury but I must take issue with what you have said.
In the response below, (*^%.) represents the word (*ilencer) as that word is been stricken from the forum vocabulary.
No state allows silencers unless the owner has met all of the federal requirements including all tax and required licensing. People have gone and do go to jail for breaking the ferderal firearms law regarding silencers. That includes making, selling, owning or having in your posession a silencer whether it is for a fire arm or an airgun.
I had the original link to the below news article at one time but have lost it but......
He's going to jail! (Origional Article & Copied from Tom Gaylord)

He's going to jail!
Michael A. Crooker was found guilty on Wednesday, July 15, 2006 of illegally manufacturing a silencer. He faces a mandatory sentence of 15 years. This link has the report:
Airgun silencer case
Crooker made a silencer for a Korean Big Bore 909, a .45 caliber air rifle. In 2004 he sold the rifle and silencer to another party and he shipped it through the U.S. Postal Service, where it was intercepted.
When ATF tested the silencer on a firearm, it silenced the report. That is the legal definition of a silencer.
Making a silencer is a violation of several counts of the same law. Because a silencer is considered to be a firearm by federal law, the maker has just made a firearm without a license to manufacture - count one. Firearms that are sold are required to have serial numbers, and this one didn't - count two. And possession of an unregistered silencer is also a crime - count three.
The jury did ask for additional clarification on what constitutes a silencer, but the judge was unable to give them anything beyond the law. I have written an article about silencers for Pyramyd Air. It should be up on their web site soon. I included the definition of a silencer in that article, so you can read it for yourself. When it goes up, that is where it will be:
For 12 years I have maintained that silencers and airguns do not mix. People who play with the law open themselves to prosecution. Even if you win your case, the experience will not be pleasant. Now that BATF has a win under their belts, I expect them to prosecute other silencer violations more vigorously.
This was a jury trial.

Buy one of the extensions for your Mrod Art, they come with extra baffles and should help with any noise increase a .25 will have over say a .22.

Thank you, Charlie, for the effort to help us understand.
I agree with you that there's a fine line over on the air rifle side when a suppressor is concerned. And, if the ATF can prove that it can be used on a firearm, the seller has broken the law. The is an issue because the Feds do not regulate air gun suppressors as they do with those for firearms. To be on the safe side, one should just fill in a Form4 and go thru the whole ATF application and be done with it after 4-5 months.
I apologize for asking about this here. I will never talk about this anymore.
