As some of you know I have been working hard to assist victims of the devastating flooding here in southeast Texas. Now that I have caught up the plan was to begin reducing the squirrel population that has been wreaking havoc on my pecan trees. But, as luck would have it, a system failure made it impossible to begin my assault yesterday. My water heater went out, then while attempting to install a new one, the black iron pipe under the house began leaking gas so I spent the day making repairs and was finally rewarded with a hot shower late last night. As you can imagine my frustration level was high. Today however is a different story. I am hunkered down on the deck now, my Prod and modified Disco at the ready. Four full magazines for each and hpa topped off. I had a couple of sightings but no contact with my nemesis yet. I know they are out there, I hear their chatter. I lay in wait and will provide a SITREP as soon as I engage them...

Day two, no success yesterday. Saw several juveniles and did get a shot off but the Wylie nutter vacated the branch just as I applied the necessary pressure to release a pellet at 850 fps which struck the trunk of the tree harmlessly. I'm hoping for better luck today but am not sure. The enemy is mocking me from the oak tree in the neighbors yard. I don't have an alliance with that neighbor so any hopes of engaging my quarry for that position have been dashed. The good news is the neighbor just lit their burn pile. This may play in my favor strategically. Time will tell....

So far the best suggestion has been the bait station. Set it up last Sunday and just kept filling it all week.
Been sitting on the back porch watching and listening to the HAM 2 meter band. Then this guy made his way to the feeder and met his demise with a 22 caliber pellet from my Prod at 35 yards.

Thanks Jerry. Switching to the Hatsan AT44S 10 Qe in 25 caliber. That rifle is a laser! This was my first Grey with the prod.
