With a 60mm objective at 24X that is a 2.5 mm exit pupil.... That definitely would have no dimming (compared to the diameter of the pupil of your eye) on a bright day, and depending on your eyes, even on a cloudy bright day, your eye may not open up to much over 3mm.... so barely noticeable dimming even then at 24X....
The surprising thing is that the guys at the EBR have problems, even with high quality spotting scopes with 60-80 mm objectives, seeing bullet holes on the black at 200 yards.... Perhaps, as you say, with your excellent vision you might not have that issue.... OR it could be that there is a lot of mirage at the EBR site.... For me, the answer would be to use an all white target, or one with a yellow center, like the NUAH targets.... I mean long distance competition is hard enough.... WHY make it any harder, and more subject to having good vision and expensive scopes?....
If you look back at the targets on page 1.... to qualify as a Master at 200 yards you would need 5 shots in a 2" group, C-T-C.... AND have all bullets inside or touching the yellow (4") ring.... AND only 5 holes in the target....

6-24x SIII has 50mm objective, 8-32x has 56mm and 10-50x has 60mm one. Would that indicate that the last one would be best if all were set at 24x magnification? My biggest mag scope is 24x and it is certainly enough mag for 200M, it's the quality of optics that's the problem. Well, actually the mirage plays a big part in it which is why the shoot'n-see type targets could be the way to go.

Oh well I can't remember all the details on all the scopes, so it actually might be 50mm like rkr said.
I can check that, when I'll open the safe next time.
The problem at EBR, looking at the location where it's held is most likely mirage.
Then any scope or spotter wont help you.
When shooting at 300m or further we use a wireless cam that Timo built, no problem seeing even .22 holes on black.
Marko
Edit: checked the scope and it is 50mm, sorry for the misinformation.

Impossible just takes a little bit longer to achieve.

IMO, you are doing very well to see .30 cal holes in the black at 200 M with only a 2 mm exit pupil (50 / 24 = 2.08) on a dull day.... as even on a bright, sunny day over snow, the pupil of your eye can only close to 1.5 mm.... so on a cloudy bright day you should be getting some dimming.... Yes, rkr, the larger the objective, the larger the exit pupil, and therefore the brighter the image....
The resolving power of the human eye is right at about 1 MOA (60 arc-seconds).... At 200 M, 1 MOA is 2.3", so at 24 X the eye (if you have 20/20 vision) is capable of seeing a high contrast object as small as (2.3/24) = 0.10".... so the problem is not magnification.... You should also be able to see two 0.1" holes that are 0.1" apart on a white background at 24 X.... The problem is image brightness and contrast.... and as you say, mirage will throw all those number out the window....
