Fun Shooting Targets

So what's your favorite fun targets to shoot. Home made, store bought, metal, paper. Bulls eyes or Zombies? Or maybe just tin cans. I come up with a new idea every time I walk thru Home Depot.  Also so many fun free paper targets on the internet I could spent a fortune on ink cartridges.  Just found these metal targets on Amazon, very good quality and unique. I like having some different new animal targets . (1/8 steel)

 I also like to collect old paper targets, like  Daisy, Crossman, JC Higgins etc. just looking at pictures can bring back some memories.

I mostly shoot paper printed on computer. I have a pellet trap setup with some spinners. I made this years ago for my 22lr but now for pellet guns. I got some 3 and 1 inch stickers from Amazon for bulleyes. 3/4 aluminum plates on an old real-estate sign from when I bought my house. CHEERS!

I make homemade targets out of my used paper plates. I flip them around and shoot at the unused back side. The plastic coated paper ones hold up well in wet weather.   I also collect and shoot at last years calendars. I pick them up at local businesses that hand them out each year. I get their unused calendars from the previous year. Each day square makes a good sequential target and they are made to be hung on a nail or screw in hook.    Best Wishes - Tom

At 25 yards I use white paper targets. Further out I can't see the holes so I use shoot and see type splatter targets. I also like to shoot the little empty cat food cans and wine bottle corks. At the range with my buddies we like trying to shoot aspirin, rollaids  or alka seltzer tablets and paint balls. Also chalk broken in one inch lengths. For 100 yards we use a 4' x 6' piece of plywood covered with 17" x 12" shoot and see slater targets. With that you can see the drop or wind effect on POI versus POA. We also use wind flags made from yellow crime scene tape.

Homemade splatter targets. I cut out correct sized templates with my scroll saw of the various silhouette targets (chicken, boar, turkey & ram). Take a bright piece of card stock and cover one side with (cheap) packing tape. Tape the template over the side with the packing tape and spray with (cheap) black paint (or any contrasting color). Let dry and remove the template. Place the target at the appropriate distance and have fun. Cheap black paint comes from the "Everything's a dollar" store. For card stock, I bought a 1000 or so index cards from a local office store when it closed.

Those are great!  An interesting thing to collect that doesn't take up a lot of space.

I've been buying those burrito shells at the dollar stores and putting dots on them with a magic marker.
Don't have to clean them up and they make bait for the night stalkers I hunt with the night vision gear.

I mainly shoot paper targets in my basement 5m and 10m range for online comps.  I also have a Bell Target and I made a 1/2 scale reset-able bowling pin rack.  The Bell Target is a shooting event found in pubs and airgun clubs in the UK  (Google it).  The pin rack lets me practice with airguns for powder burner pin shoots.

I use empty plastic drink bottles hung from low branches in my back yard. These need to be fairly far away to keep away from ricocheting BBs so they're at 25-plus yards. The thin water bottles make a nice *thwack* when they're hit; harder/thicker soft drink bottles hold up better, though. Pellet guns tear all of them up fairly easily but they last good shooting them with lower velocity BBs. For groups I use round self adhesive dots on the back of old paper plates like mentioned above.

I like to plink at empty co2 carts stuck in the ground. Cheap and reusable. Makes a real challenge for my D 822 at 20 yards.

Try a roll of Necco Candy wafers! Hang a string with a clothespin on it,between a couple of twigs or saplings, hang the wafer from the clothespin. Break the wafer, but DON"T hit the clothespin.

I like to shoot those stinking Geico Geko cards that fall out of catalogs while I am trying to look at gear! lol

Stale Matzos make a good target too. They also attract real feathered targets which are much more challenging.
