Billiards 3-Ball and Powder Ping Pong shooting games

A few of my buddies and I met up yesterday at our regular shooting permission and had a great time as usual.





We have been talking about making up some games to play/shoot to keep things interesting. A few weeks ago, We came up with a way to make our own Powder Filled Ping Pong Balls and have been having a good time with them. The really nice thing about these was actually a bit of a surprise to us. They will take more than one hit ! we were getting a good 4 to 6 hits on them before they stopped giving us that "Puff" when hit. then we stated adding a paint ball on top, and another smaller (.40 cal) powderball on top of that.





 This week, one of the guys came up with a VERY Fun variation of Billiards "3-Ball".
 He printed out several Game Cards with the targets sized at 1/2"  , 3/4" , and 1". The original idea being 1/2" for 50 yds, 3/4" for 75 yds, 1" for 100yds.

 This initially worked out great for a "No Wind" conditions, and we played several games with the 1/2" at 50,... but as the games continued, the winds started to pickup around 7 - 9 mph with slightly stronger gusts so we ended up going to the 3/4" targets at 50 yds.
 (That is STILL quite challenging in a pretty significant wind, hahaha)



Ok,... so in the pic above, the first two (closest) white target boards have 2 game cards each, mounted onto them. There are 6 of us playing,... so naturally there needs to be a "kitty".
 Everyone puts $1 into the "kitty", and the game begins.

The first guy to shoot calls out which target he will be shooting at. (i.e.- "Upper left Quadrant", or "Lower right Quadrant", etc.). He gets only 5 shots to hit his 3 targets. There is no time limit.
Once he completes his 5 shots,... it's the next guys turn to call out his Quadrant, and take his 5 shots.
This continues until all players have shot 5 shots at their own respective targets.

3 targets out of 3 shots, is the best possible score, followed by, 3 out of 4, 3 out of 5, 2 out of 5, 1 out of 5, none out of 5.
 Top score takes the Kitty.
 In the event that the TOP SCORE is a tie between 2 (or more) shooters, then the game is considered a tie of ALL players,... everyone adds another $1 to the Kitty...and fresh game cards are put out for the next round.

The funny thing about this game is just how wildly competitive it quickly becomes. Especially when the kitty starts to grow and grow.
 We had one round where the top scoring shooters tied 4 or 5 times in a row... so with 6 guys playing we are up around a $30 kitty !
 It's AMAZING how much harder it is to hit that target when you've got a dollar or two on the line. hahaha.
 And it's also AMAZING how much Eaiser it is to hit targets after the game is over, and there is no dollar on the line ! LOL !
 Heck, after we stopped playing the 3-Ball game,
 I put a case full of chicken eggs out at 100 yds, and proceeded to hit TEN in a Row ! (admittedly, an all time best for me at 100 yds!) Go figure ! LOL !

 I was fortunate (lucky) enough to win one kitty that had doubled from a previous tie game, ... but I pretty much choked it in the end, on the last game that had tied 4 or 5 times, grrr !
 Ya win some,... ya lose some,... (But I'll be honest here), I lost the last game purely out of "The powers of BrainPhart "! ! ! LOL !

All in all, it was a great fun, and a great way to spend the day with good buddies on my birthday shoot.
 Yeah,.... I'm 39,.... (again)

That's because the loser had to kiss Ron.  I left early in case I had a flier.

Very fun game for sure! Had a blast out there and the "aiming fluid" was working great!

Thanks for everyone’s generous contributions. They wouldn’t let me use the RAW, no matter, the SPA M-11 did the job just fine. Can’t wait to get some of Nick’s money. Fun game indeed!!
