On my own for dinner tonight. Picked up some cheap cuts of steak from the local supermarket. Pan-fried it with some salt and pepper. It was tender and delicious! Wow, it was only $3.50/lb! I usually get ribeye which costs about 9 bucks a pound. I just grabbed this since I figured I was only pan-frying. Looks like I'll be buying this cut more often.
Yesterday was Susan's birthday, so we have leftover birthday cakes. I had a slice of red velvet and carrot cake.

Hey Dinh.... was in Walmart yesterday and picked up a couple loaves of the bread.... I may have misled a bit. It's not English muffin bread. It's actually called English toasted bread. It was located on the top shelf where they sell the bulk rolls, buns and such.

There were several loaves. Pretty sure it's not a special run. They had a specific slot for them.

Betty Lou was digging around and rotating the chest freezer. She pull out a pack of pizza casserole. Not sure how she made it but it has pizza ingredients such as pizza sauce, veggies, sausage and pepperoni. A cheese topping and egg noodles throughout. It was quite good with a hunk of garlic bread.
I'm sure she got the recipe online someplace.
She tells me today she's going to make chicken fried steak and gravy. I also saw her looking at loaded potato recipes. I like twice baked taters but I'll let her do her thing.

They just finished remodeling our local KFC in Troy. We stopped and had the buffet a few days ago and they had their version of it. It was good but not nearly as good as home made. I must say, Betty Lou and I ate for just under $20 and left very satisfied. We got there like 5 minutes after they opened. Some of the food was just hitting the buffet so all was hot and fresh. Didn't take long for the line to grow to the door. We timed it perfectly.

I've never heard of a KFC buffet. Wish there was something like that near me......or maybe that's not such a great thing for me. We do have one Pizza Hut near me that does a weekday all-you-can-eat lunch buffet for about $6. I don't particularly care for Pizza Hut pizzas, but the buffet is decent since it also has pasta dishes and dessert pizzas.

Our KFC has had a buffet for years...
Last time there I was so disgusted with the conditions of the kitchen, clearly visible from the counter where you order, I never went back.
Now, it is under new management so may I will give them another try.
At least poke my head in.  :D

Yup, I've seen other KFC kitchens, such as ours before the remodel. They actually gutted the whole place and upgraded inside and out. It's a brand spanky new kitchen. It kinda has a Bob Evans look about it now. Just a fast food spin.
