the field point hitting the other side of the tube where the bolt rides was my main reason for adding spacers to it,

and the locking ability of the bolt afterwards was a secondary bonus

Put a BNM multi shot breech and shroud on it. Problem solved....

Phil, been thinking on that very thing. Only thing holding me back, is just how much do I want to put into a Maximus.
Perhaps an M-Rod would be a reasonable alternative. But I do enjoy the light weight of the Max!

My Disco doesn't even resemble a Disco anymore. The bolt is smooth and easy to operate now. having multishot capabilities is great for plinking or a follow up shot when hunting (I never have needed a follow up shot personally lol). I also added a Boyd's Stock, a power adjuster, stainless fluted hammer and clipped a couple coils off a stock disco spring and did the 3000psi mod. The total I have into the rifle is about $600 including the original cost of the disco. With a couple turns of the power adjuster I can go from 25 good shots at 28 fpe to 40 shots at 22 fpe with about a mil dot change in POI. If I did get an MROD I know i would want to mod it and then would be into it for more money. I couldn't even leave my P-Rod alone. Put a TSS, a  .120 TP and a Rocker1 LDC in it. The moral of this story is don't kid yourself, you know you are going to mod it lol.

Here is the hammer. smooth as butter with the BNM breech. you can also order a stainless steel hardened hammer pin. Got them from Alchemy airwerks. The Rocker1 LDC is on my Prod.

I have a mill, and can easily do the fluting with a carbide ball-endmill.

I need to order a different hammer to go with the MRod trigger group. Joseph at Discos-R-Us has the hammers, which I should have ordered when I ordered the trigger group from him.

I find Joseph very good to deal with!

Guess the BNM will be nexe. The MRod is just too long and heavy, whereas the Max. is light and somewhat handy. A little barrel shortening would make for a fine woods gun.

The problem with fluting it yourself is you will lighten the hammer up. The stainless fluted hammer weighs virtually the same as stock.
