I was trying to adjust my PP700SA .177 to shoot around 650 fps so I could get a decent shot count but ran into problems. I’ve read where some folks are having problems with getting the regulator to work correctly. Here is what I’ve experienced. Maybe someone has an idea what I can do.STOCK: Transfer Port flush to top of breech block. Regulator set from factory (possibly close to all the way in). Hammer spring adjuster factory set at full (bottomed out on frame). Pull weight about 3.5lbs). Shooting about 730 fps with RWS Basic 7.0 gr.I’ve shot about 300 rounds through it so far just testing it and seeing what kind of accuracy I can get, then shot some rounds through a chrony. I was hoping to set it for something around 650 fps. so I could get a decent shot count but couldn’t get any consistency. I’d played with the Regulator setting, Hammer Spring and Transfer Port setting. I ended up with this before starting the below test.Reduced Hammer Spring tension down three turns to 2.5 Lbs. Unscrewed Regulator adjustment screw about 60 degrees. Restricted Transfer Port 2 turns in. Fill to 170 bar on gun/2800 psi on tank gauge. (Not sure which gauge if off… maybe both)Shot about five shots before starting this string: 562, 575,E, E, 576, 577, 578, 585, 590,597,597,599, 604, 613, 611, 613, 612, E, E, 621, 625, 630 638, 635, 637, 642, 634, 650, 645, E, 643, E, 653, E, 654, 655, 659, 653, 658, 656, 659, 653, 658, 656, 659, 660, 662, 663, 655, 665, 661, 649, 652, E, E, 639So it’s starting out at 562 fps and gradually increasing to 665 fps then starts to drop off again. That’s a difference of 103 fps over about 55 shots. Yuck!Anyone have any ideas on why I’m getting so much variation and what I can try to improve it? I haven't taken the reg. apart yet... little afraid to try.One more question about the direction of the adjustment for the Regulator. I’ve read in here that turning the Regulator screw in should decrease the pressure but in another forum I read the opposite, turning the regulator in will increase the pressure. Anyone know which is correct? When I played with it, it seemed like screwing the adjuster IN, increased the pressure but it was hard to tell because of the inconsistent reading I was getting.Shelleen
