Ok, so either I'm blind, or no one has been specific on this....

I got my gold separator, and I have the same problem that HAS been up several times.
The air hose that comes with the 'tube' is threaded m10x1 on both ends.
....so.....
WHERE can I find a converter/adapter, quick connect, thing-a-ma-jiggy that will allow me to connect my standard pitch thread quick connect to it?

Help?

Little update on my filter, the pvc pipe cracked the whole length. Not sure how many runs or time was on it though. I made a new liner and filled it with silica indicator dessicant, sieve, and charcoal. So far this one is holding up well. I have just over an hour run time on my new compressor and filled my 90ci bottle from 0 with the new filter.

Hey guys, have any of you put any silicone grease on the end cap threads on your gold filter?

I'm servicing my filter at the moment, installing adapters to convert everything to NPT because I'm tired of getting hose whipped by failing M10 quick disconnect fittings. The last time I had the filter apart, I know for certain that I didn't go and hulk-tighten the end caps on the gold filter. When I went to open things back up, I had a real challenge unscrewing everything and I'm wondering if adding a LIGHT coating of silicone grease on the threads will help me in the future. As it is, the machining on threads is pretty crunchy.

I don't hulk tighten mine, but I would use anti-seize if I was going to use anything.

You have to be sure the anti seize doesn't have any combustible carriers that could get into your air.

Silicone would be better or something like ultimox.

The endcaps don't seal by tightening. The o-rings do the sealing. So just screw the cap in till it stops. No king kong power is necessary.

As long as there is no pressure in the filter the caps should come off easily unless you have corrosion from moisture happening? Do you have any pictures of the threads to share?

It amazes me that the PVC liner hack in this thread got so much attention when in fact PVC pipe leaves an air gap between the inside the gold filters and the PVC. I posted a hack in this forum with a much easier leakproof fix using transparent notebook plastic page divider material instead of PVC. It forms a perfect wall protecting air seal, doesn't require O rings to prevent leaks and air bypassing the PVC liner hack, and is easier and cheaper to make than PVC pipe and O-rings. For some reason the plastic page divider hack gained no traction and quickly disappeared from this forum. It has worked perfectly in my gold filter for over a year.

I saw your idea about the liner and its actually what leas me to make the pvc mod. I initially planned on using your method but when I got my gold filter I didn't like how much added time it took just to pressurize the filter. I found 1" pvc fit the tube really well and took up some volume to reduce fill time while giving the added benefit of being able to remove the liner and not lose any dessicant in the process. I'm sorry your idea didn't take off as it is a very simple, cheap, and effective method.

An email from the seller says they come with the clear tube.

I asked if they just sell the tube. No answer yet...

If you go to the eBay link and look at the photos that clear tube is actually 3 sections with each section filled differently. Can’t tell if they are refillable.

Instead of adding an adapter that will convert your 10X1 hose to 1/8NPT so you can use your existing quick connect, you should just buy another quick connect that is threaded 10X1 metric and connect it directly to your hose. I've bought them online through Aliexpress very cheap including shipping. It is easier to do will work better since you have fewer connections to deal with. There are several vendors on Aliexpress that sell quick connects with 10X1 threads to attach to your hose.

It appears to me looking at the refillable cartridges that there is an extension on one end with o-rings that must fit into a cutout into the endcap in the newer gold filters. If that is the case these filter cartridges won't retrofit into older gold filters which don't have an end cap cutout to fit the extension on the end of the cartridge. If someone buys a new filter with a cartridge I'd appreciate a photo to verify whether there is a chamber in one of the end caps for the filter cartridge.
