Chronograph experiences

I have both a F1 with extension control and a Caldwell Ballistic Precision.  I swear, I think it's easier and quicker to shoot through the F1 write down the results and move on than it is to try to set up my android phone and/or iPad for each grouping.

The Caldwell with cell phone is clever alright but it's a pain in the derriere to reset and enter the new pellet info, etc., shoot and save.  What am I doing wrong?

I have an old F1 and the Caldwell.  If I just want quick results, I use the Caldwell without hooking up to my tablet and write stuff down on paper (or just as likely a scrap of 2x4 using a Sharpie).  I would say you're not doing anything wrong at all.

My phone is a Windows phone, so no dice there.  But my Android tablet (technically belongs to my wife) connects instantly.   Any time I'm looking for serious data, I'm taking my time anyway so it's okay if things take a couple minutes to set up.

I could describe my F1 a number of ways, but the easiest (and nicest) is unreliable when compared to the Cadwell.

I use the Beta Chroney and also have the printer, it records and figures all the specs.  It also serves as a extension control. Been using it for a very long time. Then you have a printer report.  I don't know if the printer will work with the F1. The printer is a bit costly I think, but so does everything else.

I have about decided which chrony I want to buy just from reading on this site, from suggestions from other members, and from the features that I'm looking for, and it is.......none of the above.

While the accuracy of the Caldwell might be second to none, I like the features of the Competition Electronics Pro Chronograph Digital.

I have the Pro Chrono and it has served me well, although it is a bit finicky.  Make sure you have a fully charged battery, seems to be the biggest issue.  I have the bluetooth dongle to android and I must say it is super easy.  On your phone, the app has a large digital readout, as well as an audio readout.  I just export the files to dropbox and they are at my PC when I need them...everything calculated.

I have the Pro Chrono Digital and the USB to my laptop. I found an adaptor that uses 6 AA Batteries instead of the 9v. Lasts a lot longer. I use the Harbor Freight 26 LED pods and it's virtually flawless. It has hiccupped but rarely. I capture the entire screen with windows snipping tool and it saves in .jpg within file size limits to post on the GTA.

Wonder if that also has something to do with the wobbling of the poles?

I've been itching to pull the trigger on the Caldwell Ballistic Chronograph.  SG has it for $71.99 at the member price.  Is it a good one at that price point?  Others seem to be more expensive.

Mine was ~$72 from Amazon Prime w/free shipping; however, Amazon does charge sales tax.  So yes, your cost is in line with what I paid.....if that answers the question?

Thank you!  I was more interested in value, how do you like it?  Is it accurate?  Easy to use?  Worth the investment?  I'm new to this, so don't know much about this fancy devices!

It is easy to use and gives a velocity readout.  Which, along with the group sizes, can help one determine the best pellet for that rifle.  I have no way of knowing how accurate it is.  ~$72 is about the best price I've seen.  Only you can determine its worth.

I think a chronograph can add to the entertainment value of shooting. As well as helping you to tune your rifle's performance.

And for most, it's a one time expense. With no maintenance or repair expenses. I expect to get many years, if not decades of service from mine, with no additional expenses unless I choose to make them.

There was a LOT of positive feedback on the Caldwell.

I ended up choosing a slightly more expensive brand because of personal preferences.
And since I figured it would be the only one I would ever buy in my lifetime, I went ahead and splurged for another $28.
