They had lots of problems with the pump mechanism. Most I have run across won't pump and often the front sight is missing.
Looks like the real thing.

Boy, do I remember those pump rifles from the shooting galleries, Sears, roebuck & Co, Ted Williams, JC Higgins, Western auto over in North Ridgeville, ad infinitum. BB's, pellets, .22 shorts. So, having mounted one of my old scopes on the 760-D I just received yesterday, and having cleaned and oiled it, I shot a few rounds out of it. Rusty barrel & pump tube, she never flinched once! I pumped 18 Beeman silver bears, @ 7.10gr, into the Gamo target. Nice pasteboard ones too! Were on sale at walmart.com, $3.93 per 100ct box! Got some Gamo platinum PBA's, since I was short on those for the Crosman 160 Pellgun. I like the pasteboard Gamo targets for cleaner holes. But the ones I printed out @ gunsinternational.com are larger and more colorful at a distance. You can buy and sell all manner of guns there, including air.

That's a nice-looking Model 25!  Mine is missing a lot of the blueing and my buttstock looks like the rifle was left too close to a wood stove (which it wasn't).

I also admit to using mine to shoot birds and, worse yet, friends.  BB gun fights were a popular pastime when I was a kid...

Man those pics bring back memories. I had a Model 25 in the early 60's. First shot I took with it the bb came straight back and hit me right between the  eyes. Also had a Daisy co2 pistol. Dont remember the model #. It would sometimes go full auto. Fun times.

Daisy 86/70 followed by a Crosman 760 then a FWB124.

When I was a kid starting about 6 years old

#1 Daisy Model 95 lever action - still have it
#2 Crosman 760 - not sure where it went, replaced it a few years ago
#3 Crosman 111 - my grandfathers gun, had it resealed and still have it

Forward 20 years or so and the next purchase was my first 'adult' air rifle, a Diana 26.

I'm bluing up a NOS 761xl barrel for my 6/68 variant one 760 Powermaster atm. Got a mac1 seal/piston upgrade kit for it as well. Need more Birchwood/Casey chemicals to finish bluing stuff though.

 I was 8 years old shooting Red Ryders at YMCA day camp. Came home so excited. Evil step-mother called them up and that was the last rifle I touched until I joined the 82nd Airborne 10 years later .....

I'm so sorry to hear that, I can't imagine such a horror for a young boy to endure.

My older brother ( technically half ) was upset about me having airguns ( same goes with knives ) at my dad's house when he couldn't have them, but I don't ever remember rubbing it in his face or anything. It was hard not to mention them sometimes, but I never did such just to mess with him.
 they were at my dad's house after all and I didn't get to shoot them every day, so I think that made him feel a little better about it.

I guess it really wasn't that bad, bad enough but could've been worse.

Guess I was lucky. Mom was Slovak, and from the city. Dad was southern, from the country. A Seabee in WWII besides. So I learned central/eastern European as well as southern cookin'! Besides being treated as more of a man child in those days. Certain things were deemed of value for a man child to learn back then. Gun handling, shooting, hunting, fishing, plumbing, plastering, woodwork...all among them. Even learned powder burner shooting on classic spoils of war. Greatest thing ever for a boy back then! That's why I miss my parents so much these days. They were close to me, besides knowing what we would value learning as adults. And James, our middle son, was the last they lived to see.

These posts bring back fond childhood memories of the joy of having a BB-gun or two.  I'm inspired to take my old Model 25 out to the back yard and see what it can (can't?) do at 15 or 20 yards.  I never remember thinking it was not accurate.  On the contrary; I remember making lots of great shots with it.  When I found it in my mom's attic recently, oiled up the seal and started shooting, I wondered how I was able to hit ANYTHING way back when. 

Hopefully, I'll get a chance to put up a few targets later and give her a workout.  Does anyone have any images of targets they're recently shot with their old childhood air rifles?

How the heck did I hit ANYTHING when I was a kid?  Here's a 25-shot "group" fired rested from about 30'.  Maybe I need to try another brand or style of BB?
