Thanks Dave, I like that $3.50 target. Now I just need some more ink.

I stole this idea (and target) from another forum so I hope they don't get mad at me. But why can't we join in on the fun? Link to the target made by Oldspook: http://www.oldspooks.com/agstuff/Ten-dimes-challenge.pdf
All sniper like out the window, like a boss! Good shooting!

This is my first attempt. RAW HM 1000X ,25 cal,25.39 JSBs @ approximately 895fps.

Link to the target made by Oldspook: http://www.oldspooks.com/agstuff/Ten-dimes-challenge.pdfHahaha, I think that was the thread that I started. What a fun shooting challenge! I'm glad to see there was enough interest to get it started here. Under the circumstances I think it's only fitting that I post the target that I shot I love this idea and think it's an exceptional way to display a guns capabilities. Some people shoot groups, myself included, and lots of people just cherry pick their groups, which kind of a small pet peeve of mine. You don't get to see multiple groups over a bunch of shots in a row which is where I think the more pertinent data lies. I wish everyone would do this particular challenge and post their results so that over time we could really get a good idea of which guns in which price ranges shoot more consistently/accurately than others.Anyway, here is my first attempt. I'm going to try again tomorrow morning, weather provided.FX Royale 500. .25, JSB King 25 grains. Other than the snow, pretty optimal conditions regarding the wind.I put spray adhesive on a piece of cardboard to attach the target to so that I get more clean holes and fewer tears.screen shotprint screenimage hosting free
I would be so excited if I could get my 400 to group like that. I just got it so I am trying to get it figured out. Today I went out and was going to give this target a try. I started with 16 gr JSB on the sighter and they weren't doing so well. I changed over to the 18 gr JSBs and sent 3 in a row into almost the same hole! Then it started throwing them 2 mils high.... what? Then I couldn't hit anything except the paper but definately NOT the dimes..... bummer. I pulled out my HW95 .177 and put 3 pellets in the same hole, literally the same hole and two just off to the side, all within a dime, no warm up shots or anything. That rifle NEVER dissappoints. It was suggested that I use some JB bore paste on the FX barrel. Any other ideas to look at? I still haven't had time to put any pellets over the chronograph. I will do that as soon as I can and give the barrel a cleaning. The targets are looking good there fellas! I hope to join in soon. I may just grab the 95 and go with that one since it seems to be the best one for the job! So much for spending big $$$ for big dissapointments! ha ha

I would:1) Definitely give the barrel a polishing with a nylon bore brush and some JB Paste. I've used it in both of my Royale's and they've shot lights out. I think I even used a brass brush on my first Royale with no ill effects.2) Make sure your scope is tight, maybe try a different scope also. 3) Check and make sure your stock screw is tight. 4) Check the shroud for clipping issues. Heating the base of the shroud with a propane torch will loosen the lock tite for easy unscrewing/removal without hurting the finish. I did this to both of mine. This also makes cleaning the barrel a LOT easier.5) Shoot the gun over a chrony. Each barrel is different and will prefer pellets to be shot at different speeds out of them. Generally speaking if you're shooting too fast, most barrels don't like that. I keep mine down to about 890 fps. Ted won Extreme Benchrest shooting at 830 fps. Also if you watch his Impact review from about a year ago, he shows his first several groups were all over the place until he started adjusting the speeds.6) Try different pellets, don't just rely on the JSB's. The Royale's are among the most accurate, consistent guns I've ever shot. I'm sure there is a shooter in yours as well. Worst case scenario, send it back to the retailer and let them have a go at it before abandoning all hope. The extra effort might lead to one of the best guns you've ever had. 3 in the same hole, then 2 mils high sounds to me like something is off and when you find it I think you're going to be pretty happy.Good luck!!All the best, Cliff

I will go about it as time permits. I sure am hoping that this rifle is a shooter. I thought that spending that kind of money that I wouldn't have to fiddle with it to get it there. I was hoping to just pull it out of the box and have it shoot straight. I'm just impatient I guess. I think that it will do well. I am probably painting a picture worse off than it really is. I am just too particular sometimes for my own good! ha ha ha!
