Well I have had my Rainstorm for a few months now and I would like to give a semi-in depth review of the rifle. Now what I must tell you in advance is that I have shot only two pellets through this rifle and have never chronied it. I can tell you it shoots hard. And when I say hard I mean hard like steel. But more on that later. The looks of this rifle are top notch. Having held a Marauder I feel that there is no comparison between the two. The Rainstorm's stock is absolutely gorgeous. I believe it is Indonesian Walnut and it fits the rifle perfectly. Everything on the rifle fits perfectly, just as it should. You can tell that it is a very sturdily built AG. The stock has an adjustable butt pad which is, in my mind, the mark of a higher end PCP. The metal and plastic parts are all top notch quality and very durable. Everything from the cocking lever to the shroud are all very strong and will take punishment. My only gripe is that the stock is a tad thin in places. For example the neck of the stock where the pistol grip connects to the cheek rest is very thin. So thin that I fear if I were to try and bend it I would surely snap it off. Now, for the action itself. The sidelever cocking is extremely smooth and works magnificently. It is very quiet and works great in the field. I have not had a single hang up with it or the magazine. Now the magazines do have a bit of a problem. While they do index perfectly they do not hold smaller pellets as tightly as you would hope. Depending on the specific pellet you may find that the skirt will come out of the mag if you are carrying the gun. But don't fear, I have not had a single pellet fall out on either of my mags and I have found that indexing the rifle seats the pellets back flush with the mag. I do know that someone out there on the net is modding the mags with two O-rings so that the pellets do not move at all. Let talk trigger. Well the trigger on mine is pretty nice but took some getting used to. It is a two stage adjustable trigger. I have not touched mine since I got it and do not intend to because it works great in the field. It has a good amount of weightless over travel that I consider to be the first stage and maybe a 2.5-3 lb. pull once you get passed the over travel. The second stage is very smooth and releases at the same point every time I pull the trigger. Now just a heads up, to adjust the stages of the trigger the action must be removed from the stock. Filling the gun is easy enough. It takes a 2900 psi fill and that is achievable with a hand pump or more conveniently a scuba tank. The gun comes with a fill probe that you will need an adapter for to connect it to most pumps or tank fittings. In terms of shots per fill, the gun can be a bit tricky. I found that the first 50 BAR so from 200 (max) to 150 BAR I get roughly 20 shots. But once the gun hits 150 BAR it hovers there for about 10-15 shots. In total, I get about 45-60 good shots and even more if you want to let it go down farther. Lets talk velocity. I have not chronied the gun yet but the pellets I am using the most which are the 18 grain JSB's seem to be flying really fast. I have never shot a gun with so much power. It is a BEAST! I took a crow at 55 yards and the crow was dead when it hit the ground. I know Paul Capello's review stated that his was shooting around 45 FPE and since I am not using super heavy ammo I would say that seems correct. I would like to think I am getting 33-37 FPE with the 18 grainers but I do not know for sure. more info will come when I go home from school (where I keep my chrony) in a few weeks. Before I get to accuracy I want to talk about the loudness of the Rainstorm. Many people think that a rifle producing such a large punch must have quite a report to it but the Rainstorm is extremely quiet. Shooting the gun, you hear mainly the pellet hitting the target. the only noticable sound the gun makes is a small hollow sound from the hammer spring (I think). Other than that and a small air discharge hiss the gun is super quiet. Now for the accuracy. Well I saw it in the Airgun Reporter Review and let me say that Paul's gun was not an anomaly. My Rainstorm shoots nickel sized 5 shot groups at 25 yards and I can consistently hit my 1" spinner at 50 yards. This gun was made to hunt at pretty decent ranges. especially if you have a rest or support. I shoot from my back deck with the gun rested on a towel on the railing. This is by no means rock steady but I do my best to control my breathing and the rifle makes up from my mistakes from time to time as well. It is almost unfair to any critters within 30 yards because they have no chance once I get them in the cross hairs. You can go search the hunting gate for various kills that this gun has made. If you are taking this gun into the field it is pretty light weight and would be a blessing to have with you. The rainstorm provides the power and the accuracy that you would need to take just about any sized game you can hunt. Ask Manny (AKA Nomadic Pirate) about the pig he took with his. I remember watching that video before I got mine and saying "I gotta get me one." This gun is the real deal whether you want to nail starlings and squirrels from the deck or take a coyote in the woods. For $100 more then the Mrod you will get a better looking and more powerful gun that is just as accurate and similarly quiet. I have held and shot both and the Rainstorm just feels better then the Mrod. I must warn you though, if you do choose the Rainstorm you may never see a dry day again.MAKE IT RAIN!
