What the heck changed with the new label .22 Crosman Premier domes????

Hey guys, just a quick report on a recent purchase of .22 CPHP from Amazon.  They're cheap as dirt right now...$5.64 a tin.


First impressions were good.  Unlike the ones from late last year, the parting lines are hardly visible, no errant flashing hanging off the skirt or the dimple in the head. 

They try to group...at 25 yards, frequently 3 or 4 into a ragged hole at 25 yards with 2 that open it up to 1" and sometimes more.  Okay for smacking the spoon spinners but not suitable for hunting.

So into the house to take some measurements.  A sampling of 20 showed head sizes ranging from 5.46mm to 5.54mm.  It's not the outliers giving it such a bad spread.  The distribution is very uniform.  Some of the heads are also badly out of round, taking care not to measure across the parting line. 

Oh well, I just have to keep telling myself they are cheap for a reason.

The mystery of the errant crosman pellet continues, it seems.
Well, the out of round heads surely doesn't help.
I have wondered also about the alloy they mix in if that causes any accuracy problems.
