Michael, cocking and loading the Maximus .22 is as easy as (or slightly easier) than my Discovery .22. Much depends on practice and dexterity.
Mine came without a safety and as I said in another post the bluing in nowhere as nice as my Disco, but it is as accurate as my Disco. The gun will make a great small game woods gun being it is so light, and as said earlier if it gets scratch or banged around no harm done. I must admit when I first took it out of the box I was not impressed, but after I spent time shooting it and seeing how accurate it was and how nice it handled I am really glad I bought the rifle. Now all I have to do is get Crossman to send me a safety, by the way the trigger is better than the one on my wood stock Disco. Hope this helps
My maximus hasn't shipped yet, they have my money and patiently awaiting the shipment confirmation...Just a note on the loading, what type of pellets are you loading? From what I hear that makes a big difference with the steel breech from Crosman. I haven't shot my 1322 much that I put a steel breech on (keep forgetting about it, not much time to shoot lately...) but from what I hear there are a few things that cause the difficult loading. First is the front breech screw hole, if that is where the pellet is catching add a bit of candle wax to that location and smooth it off. The next thing is the transition from the breech to the leade in the barrel is pretty steep, if you decide to disassemble it a little by taking the barrel off (can be done by taking out 3-4 screws) you could polish that section with some sand paper (fine grit) and such which should help a lot. Also a note on UPS from some statements on the first page... My work uses UPS almost exclusively, they make multiple deliveries every day and pick up at the end of every day. FedEx we have to schedule a pickup a day in advance... I don't think we've had as many issues with UPS as we have the trucking companies (we sell engines for boats and industrial equipment), there's some shipping companies that seem to drive like rally drivers, we shouldn't have problems with engines rolling over on their pallets... And on the comments on asking UPS to just keep it at their distribution center, good call since after I ordered I hear Crosman has a signature required policy which won't work with my or the womans schedule , the UPS center is 1/2 mile from my work which would work out splendidly... I didn't have it shipped to work since they always seem kindly open my boxes for me...
Hey Guys,I've got one here for review and I be starting on it towards the end of the week. Best,SteveAEAC
They sent the .177. I was shooting it all afternoon today looking for its preferred pellet and came away with a dozen that it drills 1/4" holes with at 25 yards. I'm shocked at how accurate this thing is for $200, lol. So light and cool looking too. I can't wait to start filming!!!SteveAEAC
i should have known.i was debating weather to get mine in 177 or 22. but since one of the requirements for me was to easily dispatch a rabid raccon that are becoming more and more common place in my backyard i choose the 22. But since 95% of my shooting will be in my backyard and i have 1000+ 177 pellets on hand, i hope i made the right choice.
